Interesting interview with Robert Smith done by someone from Fall Out Boy over at ew.com:

The most interesting thing is that he agreed to be interviewed by Wentz. The appropriate reaction to Wentz's approach should have been to grab him by the neck and whip it around his body several times as punishment for helping ruin modern music.

Hmmm... I'll have to re-listen to Mint Car. I don't think I've played it in 10 years. Highly unlikely that I will like it more than Friday I'm In love.

I'd say his vocal mix is way too up front to have made it a popular single. What makes old Bob's strained and pleading voice popular on some songs can be annoying if overdone. It's very similar to Michael Stipe in that regard imho.

Nah... Mint Car is a pale wannabee.
It's not that it is so bad, but it doesn't have the magic spark of Friday... IMHO of course.
The furthest I'll go is that I should play it more than once every 10 years..maybe once every 9 years[:p]

BTW- The cd single I bought (because of the non-lp song Home) is much too funky.. It's a sliding cd caddy. Very strange, it won't quite fit in my shelving.

Nah. "Mint Car" is good but "Friday" is great.

Of course, that Friday is Friday and it has that magical saprk that makes you wanna go out when you're a Friday watching telly or listening to the radio on your own.
But Mint Car has many Friday elements.

Wait a minute, you people actually like Friday I'm In Love?!?

Friday I'm In Love is a million times worse than Bob's most unmemorable throwaway b-side.

I just couldn't let this Friday love-in go uninterrupted without an opposing view. Carry on. [:D]

I do enjoy Friday I'm In Love... especially if I'm feeling down... it cheers me up.
Not at all Cure's best song in my opinion.

But I do like it. And I don't feel badly for it. [8D]

Mint Car would've been a hit hadn't Smith decided before to present 13th as first single of Wild Mood Swings, that killed the popularity + no radiostation played it unlike Friday which is still a stable with many stations...
