I don't know if he fits in the category, but I also thought Neil Peart was the best drummer around. The couple of times I saw Rush, I would get seats in the back of the stage so I could watch him play.

And, I will also add Larry Mullen Jr. to the list. Not because he's the greatest drummer, but because he is a cutie.

I'll agree with Stewart Copeland, but I'm not sosure about Collins.

Decent, but not spectacular. Copeland on te other hand was a true artist.

Here is Copeland with Stan Ridgeway. It appears Stewart also plays the guitar.

This is Phil Collins on Drums, Midge Ure on Guitar and Howard Jones on Keys. This one should make Georgie happy [;)]

Jeff Phillips, (drummer for Chris de Burgh, Supertramp and Howard Jones) yes it is the funny looking one with the beard and the curly hair in "Things can only get better" by Howard Jones.
And Bobby Z. Rivkin (Prince) - no way - he's got a beard and curly hair, too, like in "Raspberry Beret"!

Sadly my favorite drummer may have been the Linn Drum Machine used on the Human League's "Dare" lp !!

...but the Jam's drummer was no slouch, either.

Hmm doesn't really fit into any of the categories, but Rob Hurst from Midnight Oil used to cut absolutely mental.

Ben , I bought the Rush 30th anniversary world tour dvd last year . If you like Rush live I think you'll like this disc .The band still sounds great and Neil Peart does one hell of a drum solo to boot.

By my standards , this is deep and well thought out .

DEVO drummer Al Meyers is amazing. He had a unique style ,kind of like a human drum machine.I tried to play drums for a few years in high school & "Satisfacton" & "Whip It" would give me fits!

Great individual drum songs:

Din Daa Daa-George Kranz
Birds Fly- Icicle Works (couldn't play this either)
I want candy -Bow wow wow
Message of love-Pretenders( Martin Chambers is great)
