Visage - The Anvil

Postby DavePlym » Sat Mar 08, 2008 10:31 pm

re extra tracks, i'd guess the 3 old tracks (we move/frequency/mint 12) are there coz they're already on cd so will be just copied across.
more scarily, the 3 extras from the anvil 'era' will have been submitted via mp3 or a cdr submitted by someone replying to cherry red's 'has anyone got' section. had polydon themselves done this reissue it may have been worth getting excited, but we all know this'll be less than impressive, but quite a few of us will buy it nonetheless.
p.s. if you want some very early 80's sounding (but brand new ) synth
music, search myspace for neon neon - i lust you

The people (if any) paying $100s of dollars for the OOP "Anvil" probably appreciate the re-release.

Never mind...I see you're not. In their "Can You Help Us" section, they have a bunch of items they're looking to get source material for. I have a couple, but for the hefty reward of my choice of CD (and a chance of a poor quality one at that) I really can't see helping them out, esp. when doing so will likely kill the current market value of the vinyl.

Buy this album for the original Anvil tracks because the bonus tracks, Damned don't Cry (Dance Mix), Motivation & I'm Still Searching, have all been mastered from original vinyl.

Not a bad thing if done properly, but whoever did the mastering, went over the top cleaning the tracks up. Snare drums have lost there snap and in some cases, lost all together or sound dull.

I did a comparison with my vinyl copies of these tracks, and can safely say that my vinyl is far better than the one's on the CD.

Overall, very dissapointed[V]
