Hershey's chocolate is using a cover vesion of Modern English's "I Melt With You" in their new TV ad campaign... makes me cringe like when I heard the "saved By Zero" version on Toyota's ads...[:p]

New Swifer (now that Dev-o and Blondie have had their run) ad using The Human League's "Don't You Want Me." And a Visa ad featuring Smashing Punkins (what the name of the song? New Day???) with Morgn Freeman talking over it.

Yeah, I wonder if they can use the name "Yazoo" in North America now. I doubt that other band is still around and I think they've got a good case against sharing the name with a contraceptive.

Anyway, I saw this video from Henry Rollins about the use of cool songs in commercials (caution--strong language, this is Rollins talking).

I guess it depends on the song. The Clash licensing "London Calling" to Jaguar was definitely a sell out. The The for M&M's? Not so much.

It was awful but I think somebody at Lincoln is being pretty sly. Their previous commercial used the Space Oddity cover by Cat Power. Pretty cool.

Doot Dooooot!!!

This was very cool as I was totally gelling on the couch. I sat bolt upright with a big shit-eatin grin on my face and no real rational reason why it should have been so pleasing. [8D]
