hate that as well (in those days record companies know they can just earn by selling everything multiple times to the hardcore fanbase), but with The Cure there won't be a dvd with Disintegration rerelease, unfortunately.
On the subject of the b sides and as a few people have pointed out they do appear on the Join The Dots box well Duran Duran seem to be putting everything that has appeared on their singles box sets on their remasters so there is no excuse why The Cure couldn't have done
hm, as said somewhere else, I am quite happy that they don't do, I feel rather ripped-off by Duran, buying the b-sides again when they could have included more session/live/demo stuff... but of course tastes are different. I still have rather something unreleased than sth I just payed an awful lot for a boxset when eveything of that is reproduced on the rereleases... maybe they should have done the boxset as collection of unreleased stuff / demos instead + stuck the b-sides to the albums. but as Join The Dots is out there already, there isn't much of a choice.
i mean crap some of them are barely even listenable.
to be honest, what do some people expect, sure this isn't high-end, but I mean we are talking hometaping recordings from 1980... and I know of quite a few hardcore fans who are extremely happy to find stuff like 'Violin Song' or the demo to 'Secrets' on the remasters.
Let's just hope this rumour of there being a Mixed Up 2 being released is true.
I can't say what the score is in 2009 but years back when the remasters were started, Mixed Up was definetely planned to be rereleased + as said, I hope with all the 12" mixes (and not new stuff like those horrible mixes-ep for the last album).

If their BBC box is anything like Siouxsie and the Banshees', it will be a release worth looking forward to.

Am i the only one who thinks 'Mixed Up' is a piece of crap?
God, that early '90s hip hop beat on top of Cure songs?
The original mixes were fine - put them out!

[:(!]Yeah... where are the 12" mixes for some of the B-sides, like "Just One Kiss" and, my favorite, the much better 12" of "Japanese Dream"??????????

Still looking for my girl with auburn hair and tawny eyes...

I love that extended version of "Just One Kiss". The album version on "Japanese Whisper" doesn't do the song justice. Yes, The Cure needs to release all the real extended versions on cd. This was what should have been on these remasters instead of the silly demos. Gosh, how many demos are there?

well said - all of you! i have good vinyl transfers of these original 12" mixes (and some are from the cd video singles issued in the late '80s) if anybody wants/ needs. let me know, and i'll post them. i believe some of them appear on various retro:active comps, yes?

i've got:
primary 12" mix
the love cats 12" mix
just one kiss 12" mix
let's go to bed 12" mix
the walk - couple of mixes that are pretty cool, but i don't believe there was a "real" one if my memory serves correct. i think the 12" just had the same mix as the 7".
a japanese dream 12" mix
boys don't cry 12" mix
in between days 12" mix
close to you 12" mix

I quite liked A Forest, Tree Mix. You can't complain about having the new mix over the original 12" of this, since there wasn't an original 12" [:)].

> in between days 12" mix

This has to qualify as one of the crappiest extended versions of all time [:D]. I wonder how much the remixer was paid to do it.

If you could post a link to a file of these, it would be ace. I've really gotten tired of buying all these remasters, AND the box set, with no trace of these. I feel a bit taken at this point!

Cheers!

Ex-Cure keyboardist Roger O'Donnell has posted a pretty long recollection about the 'Disintegration' sessions. Pretty interesting...
