Yet another 80s cd.

Most 80s compilations are a re-hash of a certain list of songs. The brillance of the Retro Active series is that it includes the rare and the wonderful.

This 80s pop cd includes songs that you would not find on the run of the mill 80s cds. But the songs are pretty widely available.

Must be a mistake. The only official Victim of Love (Megamix) was part of a 75 minute non-stop mix on the Hits! compilation.

The main thing it has going for it is that it's cheap, reasonably good value for money and tries not to go down the 'big hit' route every time.

One 80s compilation I saw while shopping in Tesco featured 'Plastic Age' by The Buggles which pleasantly surprised me.

Saw this on sale and for £6 isn't bad VFM:

Some 80s compilations are better than others. But most suffer for being the same re-hash of the same list of songs.

They wouldn't include say:
Suzanna by the Art Company
Kiss me Deadly - Lita Ford
David Lee Roth "Califonia Girls"

That said - they are very good value. I have far too many of these compilations.

Completely agree with what you're saying. There seems to be a checklist to every compilation, Buggles 'Video Killed The Radio Star', check. Spandau Ballet 'Gold' or 'True', check. Katrina and the Waves 'Walking on bloody Sunshine', check..

It would be nice if they included some more variety in these compilations like:

The Evasions - Wikka Rap
Hazel O'Connnor - Will You
Surface Noise - The Scratch

They are a great way to boost your collection and act as a taster for the artists on there. The problem is as always knowing when to stop as they can be more-ish.
