Of all their albums, they remaster this one???

Heartbeat City hasn't had a wide-released remaster yet, although there was this one, which probably costs $$$, if you can find it -> http://www.discogs.com/release/2367567

I have this remaster which to me sounded no diffrent than the normal cd version. Speaking of which the Cars have a new album out next month with Ric Ocasek on vocals. U can preview on iTunes.

I agree with the sentiment, but it's the only Cars album not in print, and it was their weakest seller, so obviously Rhino has no problem licensing it to Friday Music for remastering. That label has done a decent job on the stuff I've grabbed from them.

I have the Heartbeat City gold disc; it was remastered by Steve Hoffman. He has his own forums that are quite popular with music/audio geeks (shforums.com); his mantra is to not do modern mastering that is full of compression, is brickwalled, etc. They did Shake It Up, too, but I don't have that one.

Candy-O and Panorama were reissued quietly as "HDCDs" a number of years ago...

Friday music does not issues "remasters," they just reissue out of print CDs from the most recent mastering job.

Surly are you sure Heartbeat City was their weakest seller? I would've expected it to outsell Panorama and Shake It Up. Heartbeat City was all over the radio and MTV during '84-85.

Oops, please ignore prior post; I see now that you were referring to Door To Door rather than Heartbeat City.

BTW Door To Door has some really good sleeper tracks on it that never received any airplay.
