How many "Best Of" CDs are there now (not a cynical question, just asking), and which one is best from the viewpoint of single mixes, best album tracks, etc (not more or less strange remixes & rarities)? This one has "Eight singles, classic album tracks & two of the biggest-selling 12" mixes of all times" which, to me, seems to be the closest one to a TRUE Best Of?

I have not made an discog for FGTH because, frankly, ZTT is a nightmare for a discographer. I like their music, but sorting out all their 12" mixes etc is too much even for me.

The last one Frankie Says Greatest had mostly album versions of the singles.

It's no surprise that it's yet another FGTH release, but I am constantly amazed at how easily pleased the people are, any old shit is released and they praise it!

Wonder what's next? Art of the 12" vol 3 with even more non ZTT and tenuously related tracks? Maybe a Two Tribes (Going Out Of Syria Into Iran Mix). Who knows!

Luke,

What's the issue with "Frankie Said"

It's a great ballance of tracks for the fan & the casual listener.

Remember that this is Salvo's first Frankie best of & it stands head & shoulders above the other 2 (yes just 2, Best Of's over the years.

Your continued hatred of these releases has gone beyond being tiresome.

Yes, there have been mistakes, we know all about them.

If you don't want to support these releases, then don't.

There are plenty (the majority) of fans who will be supporting these releases.

Yes, i agree with Soundstory and although i'm not sure what versions all of these tracks are, i shall be buying on release. Hope they are all brand new remasters from the master tapes done well with no mistakes (this time). Time will tell i guess unless others know differently already

It's not so hard to see that members such as Sinclair are adding to the problem by only allowing positive comments about the ZTT releases and the wankers behind them on their sites? Sinclair is totally clueless, he has no idea how to run a website, is incredibly biased, he seeks to curry favour with Peel and Salvo, no doubt to continue to get free review copies of the CDs, when all he actually is doing is to stroke Peels ego and encourage the shoddy treatment of fans we are all by now used to with the Element range.

Such people deserve nothing less than the brutally honest comments directed at them on sites such as the New Wave Outpost. They can't behave the way they do and expect praise from everyone.

Period.

Does anybody know if and when they are going to make good on the mistake they made on the "Sex Mix" compilation? And is this new best of release, just trying to make people forget about their ENORMOUS BLUNDER on the monaural versions of disc one's first five tracks? I feel really abused by the whole debacle. I love me some Frankie, but this is just more money making excuses.

It seems that so many have forgotten/forgiven the Sexmix debacle already, no doubt due to sites like Sinclairs, (and a ridiculously promoted/defended site often mentioned on the alternate boards) which wouldn't know how to present a balanced, unbiased view if their lives depended on it.

So, We have a fantastic Propaganda release (I'm serious on this one) to deflect the Sexmix negativity further, doesn't mean fans are going to forget.

And we have a new Frankie "Best Of"... well, what more perfect opportunity to make it up to disgruntled fans by using the supposedly rediscovered stereo masters and putting the tracks that were fucked up on Sexmix onto this new CD? Did they do it? Did they tell.

And why not? We probably won't find out, only those currying favour with Peel and co. will.

We'll just get yet more silence from the ignorant bastards.

Yes Sex Mix WAS a debacle & it's hasn't been forgotten about.

I agree completely about Propaganda - Noise & Girls, it shows how when things go right, how brilliant the end product can be.

Let's hope that "Frankie Said" is as good as the band deserve.

Now, I can't accept your on-going vendetta against Paul Sinclair.

The man runs a website that I feel is very balanced, he runs in my opinion, a good balanced site which is an excellent source of information.

Good range of competitions too (haven't won one yet, but fingers crossed).

There is no direct connection between him & Salvo/ZTT & yes he does delete some comments, but that's his choice it's his website after all.

If I felt the same way about it as you do, I'd just not visit th site full stop.

A good balanced site? Well, that could be true IF he didn't get ( Promo-)CD's in advance and didn't delete the comments made on the topics.

Furthermore, I think you don't visit his site often enough to know that he (for instance) used FGTH Sexmix-banners, knowing that the product was already inferior. Only just recently he removed them for others on the top of the site.

So, I wouldn't use the term 'balanced' if I were you.

Don't know, i'm not an expert although i do have them all. Soundstory will know! Incidentally i'm listening to this right now i'm currently on 'Rage hard'. It's leaked. My copy is on pre-order and should be here in the next few days. Track 1 is certainly interesting. All 32 seconds of it!

I've ordered mine too, but got a leaked copy as well as i couldn't wait. This is certainly an alternate best of package with almost every track presented in a different mix than the official 7" mixes. Never heard the Rage Hard mix before. It sounds like an edit of the Freddie Bastone mix. Also Watching The Wildlife is actually an edit of the Condom Mix. But overall i'm gonna love it once my cd arrives !
