Robbie Williams goes New Wave and...

Postby Mechi » Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:36 pm

... surprisingly, it works out fine. Was extremely surprised today after the review of the songs included in his latest album on the radio today. For the first time in my life, I've heard several RW songs that didn't make me wanna destroy my stereo.
The reason... a varied album with strong New Wave influences and a great producers (the Pet Shop Boys!! and William Orbit for instance).
And then you got it... catchy songs such as "She is Madonna" and "We are the Pet Shop Boys". I like the second one best... a tribute to all the PSB's hits. [8D]

Well... quite a surprise... that doesn't mean that I'm gonna start liking Robbie but certainly when the new songs get played, I won't just have to control my sense of rage. [;)]

He actually does a good cover of Tin Tin's "Kiss Me." It's basically a note for note copy of the original ('85 version), just freshened up for today's standards.

iTunes has it.

I'm actually a Robbie Williams fan ... but the title track from his new disc "Rudebox" is awful. Maybe it grows on you, but on first listen I nearly blew my Post Toasties all over my newspaper.

not sure if this should be in NW section, but the song Different is allright from his new album, I think it will be a second single, cowritten by his Take That band mate Gary Barlow [:D]

Made the mistake of clicking on one of those links. Closed the new window after only a minute or so.
