According to AmazonUK the tracklisting for the 3CD set begins with the Johnny and the Self Abusers track Saints And Sinners, but this isn't mentioned on either SM's website or Slicing Up Eyeballs.

That would be awesome if true...only place you can get this is the long out of print Indie Scenc 1977 (and what a great series this was)

Yeah Moni that set looked good. Never knew about that. I'm a more casual fan but i do have at least two bests of. Glittering prize and that one from around a decade or so ago. The double CD. That was a good one and even had The real life i think by The Raven Maize quite strangely. I just thought a 3 cd set in chronological order with single edits covering a 35 year career was pretty amazing. What i'd give for one of those on Duran, Madonna, Gary Numan or a whole host of others for that matter! And yes i could compile most of those myself but i can't be bothered! Decent mastering and covers i couldn't do either! If it's done properly gotta be worth around £14 of any SM fans money surely?

> I would much rather they released another box in the same vein as 5x5 from Sparkle In The Rain through to Real Life with bonus tracks.

Ditto, but I guess it's not cool to like their albums following New Gold Dream.

I'm not too interested in having the 7" versions, even if they are remixed. If I can get the three-disc set for around $12, I would get it, but most likely, I would pass on this, too.

I don't like these albums because I don't like the music on it.

That's fair enough you are entitled to your opinion but a lot of people do like these albums.

I was pleased with the recent 5x5 box set even though i had the remasters of those i still bought it to get the bonus tracks and though the lack of information in it was a bit disappointing nobody could argue with the price of it. This will be their 3rd best of so far and how many times do we need to have these tracks repeated. I would much rather they released another box in the same vein as 5x5 from Sparkle In The Rain through to Real Life with bonus tracks. I wish they had given the go ahead to The Platinum Collection that was supposed to have been released in 2006 with this traclisting

Disc: 1

If they would have released this, they wouldn't be able to milk a lot of us for all our money with the "Themes" box sets. [:D]

The "Themes" sets predated the proposed "Platinum Collection" (well, 1 to 5 did anyway). I should know as I bought the first two in 1990!

The latter Virgin albums tend to get short shrift from many fans of the early years, which is a shame. I love the band's output from "New Gold Dream" to "Real Life", that's my era. I only caught up with the early stuff later on. Anything though from 1994 onwards is a minefield of mediocrity.

That said, I'm buying this and going to see them live in April. Just can't kick the habit! :)

I'm looking forward to the 3CD set but I've gotta admit, that Platinum Collection track list is pretty great. Lot's of excellent 12" mixes on there. I'd forgotten that SM prevented that from being released. :(

I have the box sets too but didn't they repress the box sets 4-5 years ago? I am sure the record company is thinking, if we released all of their extended versions of a 3cd set, we won't be able the rest of these box sets. [:D]

Here you can hear the first promo single taken off it:

http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2013/0 ... ew-single/

"Broken Glass Park", their first new single since "Stars Will Lead The Way" from 2009.

Not that bad at all but they had much better and more memorable singles during their lifespan released so far IMO.

It looks like it's gonna be great compilation, at least for me, because it includes lots of 7" edits for the first time on cd.

Especially the first cd is a dream come true for me as a fan of early Simple Minds and also beeing some sort of a completist. The only thing missing is the unique US-promo version of "Someone Somewhere In Summertime" which clocks at 3:56.
