Icehouse reissues

Postby moni » Tue Jul 16, 2013 1:08 am

The original release date was the 31st May according to amazon de who are now saying they don't have a release date. I have had 3 separate emails to say this release has been delayed. I have asked on http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/i ... me.315598/ why this keeps getting delayed but nobody has replied. If it is delayed again i'm cancelling my order and they can shove it up their arses and i will download it instead.

Yeah, that thread on the Steve Hoffman forums was started by the guy who is supposedly mastering these CDs for release. But he hasn't posted anything new in weeks. I hope that's not a bad sign!

It's technically out of stock at amazon.com, but a bunch of amazon sellers have "The 12 Inches Volume 1" on sale now:

Got it today. Excellent sound quality. I'm surprised that Repertoire who're known for cranking up the volume did such a decent job. This is the ultimate best of and the most comprehensive . Several of the singles appear in their original 7" mixes unlike on White Heat. I'd say you should all get this !

Actually upon a second listen i noticed that No Promises is vinyl sourced and the hiss is clearly apparent towards the end. Nevertheless the overall cd is worth it.

Thanks for the update...my only quibble is that a major College Rock classic and live staple, Cross The Border, was left off...don't understand the logic there.

Thanks for the update. What version of "Great Southern Land" is on the CD? An early track list said it was the 1994 remix, but the most recent one just says it's the single edit.

"The 12 Inches Vol. 1" has been shipped and I should have it any day now. I'll report here when it arrives.

It appears to be just the single edit. Running time is 3:39 min.

You can burn me once but you won't burn me twice with their crap/Icehouse, after White Heat.

Got The 12 Inches Vol. 1 yesterday and after listening to it all the way through it sounds mostly fine apart from No Promises(US Club Mix) which is clearly from vinyl which is a total pain as there was no excuse for using vinyl as it has been released on CD before on the compilation album Great Southern Land. I know it's on So80s 6 as well but that's unlistenable.

Got the 12" inches cd as well . Yep, i noticed that the club mix of No Promises is a vinyl rip, as is the 7" mix on the Best of Icehouse. Didn't someone mention a while ago that Repertoire actively use high quality vinyl sourced mixes ?

Yes ... in reference to the Sparks recent double-disc sets.

Anyhow, I ordered my copy of Icehouse's 12 Inches - Vol. 1 yesterday.
