Not so much a Talking Heads fan (you'd have to talk to my sis Mechi about them), but I am a big Human League freak, and I'm more than sure that IWantMyMTV is an ever bigger HL freak. Favorite song? It changes daily, but right now I'd probably settle on this gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ASSLXYlpfw Man, I love that song. Beautiful stuff.

A toss up between "Love Action" and "Louise". Not much into the Heads but would have to be "Once In A Lifetime".

I'm not a huge fan of either, but they both have songs that I really love. I probably like the Talking Heads more than the Human league though.

The Heads songs I think are pretty essential - This Must Be the Place, Life During War Time, Psycho Killer, Crosseyed & Painless and Take Me to the River.

I've never gotten tired of Don't You Want Me from the Human League. Honestly, once that song gets into my head, it will be stuck there for a few days!

For Talking Heads I'd have to go with Crosseyed and Painless from Remain in Light or I Zimbra from Fear Of Music.
For Human League I'd have to go with Life On Your Own, Don't You Know I Want You, or Open Your Heart, Seconds and The Lebanon

Although I must say that you can't really go wrong with anything off of Remain In Light or Fear Of Music by Talking Heads!

The Human League is one of my faves. Many people don't know their earlier work (not on the NWO, of course!). Reproduction and Travelogue are seriously synthy heaven. At turns cold, stark, breathy, and haunting, they serve as perfect predecesors (sp?) to Dare. I could listen to the Human League over and over again, and I do, actually.

Both are great bands. I had the pleasure of seeing both live (The Human League once, Talking Heads 4 times). I have the Talking Heads compilation you mentioned (the double CD,right?) but not Dare (I still have the vinyl Dare, not the CD).
Favorites? Life During Wartime from the Heads. As for Human League, I am torn between Seconds and Sound Of The Crowd.
There is some great older work by Human League. Empire State Human is a favorite of mine.

Talking Heads has so much to offer... as far as albums go, I personally recommend the Stop Making Sense soundtrack, it's a great way of starting cos it has songs from all their early albums. Even better if you go for the movie.
I also enjoy Human League very much... yes, Dare it's a great album.

Of the two I'd go with Human League. Mainly because I like the synthpop dance stuff better overall.

I'm sure that many of you haven't heard this yet. This one's really good and it has been released some months ago:

Giorgio Moroder is not the lead singer of the Human League

Philip Oakey is the lead singer of the Human League, Giorgio and Phil teamed up in 1985 to produce and record a solo record and that is where "Together In Electric Dreams" comes from. It's included on many HL greatest hits because many consider it a Human League tune, but personally it deserves it's own separate credit and I am glad that album got the remaster treatment a few years back w/bonus tracks. "Be My Lover" and "Goodbye Bad Times" were two other singles off the album and are both equally great.

As for the Human League as a whole, I have to say they have aged moderately with me, but I go through periods of likness so I am sure their turn will roll around soon again. "You Remind Me Of Gold" and "Don't You Know I Want You" are two of my favorite songs by them. Of course they work the mainstream very well and "Don't You Want Me" never gets old, however, "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" gets stale sometimes and can only tolerate that song along with "Love Action" in small doses.

'Hysteria' the one album to check out if you are just getting into the Human League and want to explore their entire catalogue of greatness! After you grew to love 'Hysteria' hopefully after the first listen then pick up 'Dare' but it will take a little more time to appreciate. "Seconds" didn't appeal to me until just this past year.
