the ROMANTICS..new wave or power pop???

Postby georgie rockwood » Thu Feb 22, 2007 6:37 am

would you consider the romantics, new wave or power pop???
and, what's your favorite romantics album & song???
when the romantics first came on the music scene in mid 1979 with their debut album & single,"what i like about you",they were definitly penned,,power pop by the critics, but some also penned them new wave.
i guess it really depended on the critic etc...& where they were in the states etc....
when our local new wave club,,"THE SPIT CLUB", in orlando fla.,played anything by the romantics, the dance floor was packed!!!

my favorite ROMANTICS album(s) would be....
THE ROMANTICS "STRICTLY PERSONAL" 1981
THE ROMANTICS "NATIONAL BREAKOUT" 1980

my favorite ROMANTICS songs are.....
A NIGHT LIKE THIS....from national breakout.
NO ONE LIKE YOU & BOP......from strictly personal
