Manu Chao - Rainin in Paradize

Postby zill » Tue Sep 18, 2007 5:46 am

Don't ask me where I heard this...and don't ask me to try to pigeon hole what genre it is...but this tune has infected me!

Manu Chao seems to have been a french-born waver back in the day with a group called Hot Pants in the 80's. I've never heard of him or them until now. Although it sounds like his music is influenced by world beat, there is a dose of new wave in here as well.

Anyway, for a dude in his late 40's, this is a pretty cool song IMO.

I LOVE Manu Chao !!

Can't get enough of "Bongo Bong"...and how his Clandestino and Proxima Estacion: Esperanza albums had 4 different versions of this riff on them. Great effect ! He sings in English, Portuguese, French, and Basque (not all on the same song ).

Never thought of him as new wave, though.

Manu Chao's "Rainin In Paradize" is the current FREE iTunes single of the week.

No offense but I didn't download it. Perhaps it is an acquired taste.

Also free on Amazon:
