No interest whatsoever in the remake, but at least the original is coming out on Blu-Ray in September, so at least that's one perk of having a remake.

I think there is a lot of electro and dance in the US mainstream today.... the most since the 80's I think. So it's a pretty good time to do a remake of such a film, and capitalize on new trends in modern dance. But from the previews it doesn't seem the movie used much interesting stuff, but we'll see

totally agree with you Invisible Man. They could easily make a soundtrack that is totally modern but with an 80s retro feel. Instead, it does indeed look like Step Up 4. Step Up 3 was on cable the other night, and I was thinking it actually felt DATED because they were dancing to endless hip hop and crunk and that is just so Y2K at this point.

<br>Ugh...who asked for this remake? Was the original even that great to begin with?
[/quote]

The whole premise of the film was ridiculous in the eighties and even more so now ... plus that kid who plays Willard is no Chris Penn.

Indeed !!

would have made sense for the two actors to appear as judges on So You Think You Can Dance this past season... good promotion. They would have made more sense than some other guest judges they've had [:D]
