I know just 2 songs by Alphaville (Big in Japan and Forever Young) and, while they're not bad, they never impressed me much. But I'll check out their other songs. Maybe I could find some good stuff. Are there any particular songs that you could recommend me?

Well, as far as Erasure goes, I've got a few of their songs on mp3 and I enjoy them (my favourite is Chains of Love) but I never got hooked enough to the point of wanting to search for their other songs. I'll have to check their other songs, too. Could you recommend me any?

Bienvenidos Silvina. The trilogy of great Erasure LPs, in my opinion, are the Innocents, Wild and Chorus. The Crackers International EP ain't bad too. The pre-Innocents stuff suffers from flat production, and erm I don't know much about the post-Chorus stuff-- I Say I Say I Say (which as a side-note is the Latin American version as I bought it in Costa Rica) has one song on it it that I could recommend ('Always'), and the stuff since then I don't know anything about because I don't have it.

I know that buying them could be a good idea but there's a problem- these kind of compilations aren't available in record shops here in Uruguay and I don't have an international credit card, which is required to buy from Amazon. I have installed in my PC a free downloading program called Ares but I think I won't be able to find the more obscure bands there (I'll give it a try anyway). Could you recommend me a dowloading site where I can find songs by the lesser known bands?

I guess you've never heard of soul seek - which is great for the obscure stuff.

I think that's a good idea. I tend to download album tracks without listening to them first and if I don't like them I delete them. But I'll try to do what you're suggesting me.
Regarding soul seek, I haven't heard much about the site but I think it could be useful for me to discover new bands so I'll dowload it ASAP. I just need some time and a little help (I'm not very good at the computer) to do it.

Thanks for your suggestion but here in Uruguay you can't find 80s compilations with the hits, let alone the more obscure bands. And I can't buy them from Amazon either as I don't have an international credit card. Can I rip them from Soul Seek (which someone here recommended me), which I'll download ASAP?

I recommend FLV Extract

Instead of any transcoding, it will strip out the audio (and/or video) file from the FLV. It saves on any possible quality loss in transcoding to MP3 (although you may very likely end up with an AAC file, which shouldn't be a problem for any decent media player in this day and age).

Just download, unzip, run FLVExtract.exe, check Audio (uncheck the rest), then drag and drop the FLV file. Easy, lightweight, and nothing to install.
