OMD - Architecture & Morality: The Singles

OMD - Architecture & Morality: The Singles

Postby BigManRestless » Sat Sep 04, 2021 4:27 am

This is a nice set - and for once, these days, CD buyers aren't forgotten:

Vinyl: 3x 12" set of the 3 singles from Architecture & Morality. Featuring unheard demos, studio sessions and live performances of tracks from the album across 3 coloured vinyl discs. Presented in a triple gatefold silver board sleeve with emboss details and printed inner bags. Limited to 2,000 copies.

The CD has the same tracklisting as the vinyl, but across one disc rather than 3.

Release date: 15th October 2021

Single 1: Souvenir

Side A:

Souvenir
Motion & Heart (Amazon Version)
Sacred Heart
Side B:

Souvenir (Demo)
Choir Song (Rough Mix)
Motion & Heart (Live at Drury Lane, 1981)

Single 2: Joan Of Arc

Side A:

Joan Of Arc
The Romance Of The Telescope (Unfinished)
Joan Of Arc (Live at Drury Lane, 1981)
Side B:

Joan Of Arc (Rough Mix)
New Song (Georgia Demo)
She's Leaving (Demo)

Single 3: Maid Of Orleans

Side A:

Maid of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc)
Navigation
Sealand (Demo)
Side B:

Submarines
Maid of Orleans (Demo)
Joan Of Arc (Maid of Orleans) (Live at Drury Lane, 1981)

(I wish the Human League would do something like this for Dare's 40th anniversary too).

That's interesting!
OMD always impressing!
Spandau Ballet should release an exclusive box with all the 7"/12" singles and B sides of the Chrysalis era (like the Duran Duran/Marillion "singles boxes") with remastered audio and replace that stupid m*ron, who f*cks the 2010 remasters of "Journeys to Glory" and "Parade"
Are you going to start screwing over Redo like you screwed over MSK with your endless requests? what an idiot you turned out to be MATT

Spot on re Spandau Ballet Remastered albums, diabolical sound as were the Duran Duran remasters a few years back, it amazes me that so many remasters are poorly done, the people doing the remasters must be tone deaf!

Oh, too bad it's not the original tracklistings. I hate extra tracks tagged onto the end. And you know, Souvenir should be 10", just like the original. Also, we need both covers for Maid of Orleans included, so the buyer has the option on which jacket to use.

It would have been nice to have heard from the OMD mailing list on this interesting collection. I'm thrilled with the CD. I'd love to buy the 12" set but I can't spend $65+ on music I don't "need." I've tried to keep up with contemporary OMD on record [the LPs and the singles] but all the stuff issued these days on the cruddy, eliti$t format is far beyond me caring.

Sadly the rhino editions of Spandau back catalogue are the same f*cking remasters. One 3cd set of all the chrysalis singles era and a well done 4 remastered albums it's more than enough. We don't need the same singles /best of... over and over again.

"Submarines" is a very nice fully synth instrumental, OMD rarely did this kind of stuff, sadly.

It is, but does anyone else think there's a (clumsy) edit in the Rough Mix of Joan of Arc?

I suspect their deliberate use of the word "rough" is there for a reason, and that edit is it.

Not as yet, and on looking at the OMD UK store account today it lists the order status currently as ‘unfulfilled’... have had no notification that there is a delay to the release date.

In today’s update... the delay is because I ordered vinyl and CD - vinyl is in stock, but not enough CDs were supplied - they hope to receive them and ship them next week, apparently.

Yes I got the same message to my enquiry - how odd - it's usually the other way round!

It's getting on for a minute shorter than the final version - I reckon they chopped a verse out, for some reason.
