Woo hoo, Don't Stand So Close to Me 86 extended! For some silly reason, that wasn't included in the North America boxset (the blue one, whatever it was called).

Live Version is a mix by Kim Turner of the Police playing in Atlanta, The Omni, USA on 1983.11.03 during their fourth world tour called "Synchronicity".

Has anyone picked this up yet? I have read some reviews and posts that "several" tracks are vinyl rips but the only one specifically mentioned is the Holly Johnson track. I was gonna spring for this simply for the Eurythmics and Peter Schilling tracks but I was able to listen to samples on Juno download and I swear I heard a vinyl pop on the Eurythmics track. I got the Now 80s Extended set and was pretty happy with it overall esp the Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson which sounds great other than overly compressed but that's just how everything is these days, I don't expect that to change anytime soon so I don't dwell on it much.

Thank you for the reply and information Freshy. This would be from the 1995 2-CD Live! release then. Good to know.

A few reviews on Amazon so far, and none of them are favorable and make it sound like it's loaded with vinyl rips.

I was able to track down a flac rip of this release and was happy enough with the sound quality that I bought the 4CD set. The only two tracks that sound inferior to me are the Holly Johnson and the Laura Branigan. The tracks I was most interested in (The Police, Eurythmics, Peter Schilling, Pat Benatar, Whitney Houston, Olivia NJ, Expose, Rockwell, Yazz to name a few) all sound excellent. In fact, this is the best sounding "Major Tom" 12" Version of any CD out there, and there are only a couple cds that have featured this particular mix (the Retro:Active CD is absolutely unlistenable and Hit That Perfect Beat CD isn't much better). So that track, along with Eurythmics' "There Must Be An Angel" have made this set worth every penny to me. Yes, it's compressed and louder than necessary, but so are 99% of CDs released in the last 20-25yrs. Still sounds worlds better than all these tracks ever did on my original vinyl releases.
