No sir it's not true. Stan has had a long and fruitful solo career and it does seem as though he has put together a band to open for Miss Lauper. Chas T. Gray may also be involved. Here is a comment from Bruce Moreland, an original member.:
"From Bruce Moreland: I was the original bass player for Wall Of Voodoo, me and My brother Marc Moreland started the band with Stan Ridgway, me and Marc wrote most the damn songs for the first two albums , Stan was off vacationing on Daddy's money in Europe, while we pan handled change for beer on Hollywood Blvd. and devoloped songs for the first E.P. which got our first two songs airplay on the radio,,ground work that set the stage for the hit "Mexican radio",,,but before the hit came out , Stan saw to it that I get kicked out of the band because I was too edgy , and not commercial enough,,besides that, I had an eating disorder and was flirting with opiates, which was in conflict with the speed snorting and drinking to death the rest of them seemed to enjoyed, later when Stans huge ego took him on the solo carrier that went nowhere, I rejoined Wall of Voodoo with new singer Andy Prieboy to do another two albums, never having the commercial success of Mexican Radio, the band would later break up,,followed sadly by the death of my Brother Marc Moreland and original drummer Joe Nannini. R.I.P Wall of Voodoo,, NO!! not even the Name is safe from Stan, now he has turned the band into a circus act, opening for Cindy Lauper at the Orange County Fair, he Never thought to ask me or My brothers widow for our blessing or participation,,,do not go see this sham.
And P.S. Stan,,I am not the unfocused, tortured soul I once was,,I have rescourses, determination and focus,,unlike yourself I know a hard day of work,,and my new job is to Sue your money grubbing, self centerd, scam artist, no talent shit brain ass, ,Don't cheapin the Name my brother died for you bastard,"
This was posted on "wall of voodoo.com" where Bruce has been a frequent visitor. I for one believe that it is THE Bruce Moreland due to the similarities of venom directed at Stan. You see....Bruce and Stan weren't the best of friends after Bruce had left/dismissed (only Stan and Bruce know this one). I may be wrong but.....we'll see how all of this plays out in the near future.
