Hey Retro,
I have to agree that the sound quality was indeed poor and the stage lighting could have been better. Yep, same sound guy did both Halovox and apb. I mentioned something to the sound guys during the Halovox set, but was told that apb wanted it that way and they spent around 3 hours performing sound tests before we opened the doors at 9:00. Not enough highs or volume for that matter (IMO) - could have been much louder like the days I used to go to a concert and left deaf. I like it loud.
As for the music, that was me spinning for Cody - bringing back a taste of the music I used to play at SpizeII back in the days. apb appreciated "A Certain Ratio" as well as the others who new the songs 'Do The Du' and 'Shack Up' since they didn't leave the dance floor while playing them. I feel old. Wish you NWO ppls came up to the booth to say hello - maybe next time.

<br>First off, greetings in return to all the LI NWO'rs whom I met up with at Saturday nights MB II's show.
While it was great welcoming APB back here last night after so many years, the overall sound quality could have been better.
Being a tad muddy and overmodulated with enough mike feedback to convince me that a Hendrix cover track was in the setlist offing.
This was surprising since the opening DM tribute band Halovox sounded quite good using what appeared to be the same EQ audio stack and PA setup.
BTW: they did a nice set of original material along with some fine covers of 'Enjoy The Silence' and Pete Gotwin's 'Images of Heaven'
IMO, the sub par sound limited APB's ability to generate the level of audience enthusiasm so deserving of a band returning from a 15+ year hiatus. Instead, there were some awkward moments of prolonged silence between songs that prompted some nervous quips to the crowd.
Despite this, they did deliver some rousing funky bass infused tunes, my faves being Danceability, Rainy Day and of course their encore 'Shoot You Down'
I hope these three fine Scotsmen still came away feeling they were well received here on LI and will pay us another visit in the not too distant future. Please do come back!
I can still hardly believe the last time I saw them was @Heartbeat back in the winter of '86/'87.
Finally, kudos to the gent(s) manning the MB II wheels who spun some great nostalgic club trax such as 'Everythings Gone Green', 'Touch', 'I Wanted To Tell Her', 'Marcia Baila' among others. Thank You!
