"Edge Fest" Experience

Postby coop41 » Mon Oct 02, 2006 7:36 am

I thought it would be a great idea to take my boys and go to the local "Edge Fest" this past weekend. Incubus was the headliner but I knew we would be nowhere near when they finally hit the stage.

Park- 20 minute walk from entrance $10!
Wait in line at will call 15 minutes
Wait in Line to enter (additional 15 minutes for me-boys waited 30)
Hot As Hell in Arizona this day- No Shade anywhere!!

I'm a local music fan and had not heard of one band on the local stages so we skipped that in it's entirety.

1st band- Dirty Heads Limp Bizkit wannabes looked like The Allman Brothers Yuck!

2nd Band- A Change Of Pace- local Emo heroes, great fan response, my boys wanted to see them and they liked them a lot.

3rd Band- Sparta - waited in line their entire set to be told they are out of water (8 hours to go!)

4th Band- She Wants Revenge- Dressed for a winter in Liverpool, unfortunately summer in Arizona, nearly dropped dead and I was somewhat disappointed, that and I was in another line to get a drink for half the set-only to get to the front and told- Out of Sobe and Water- Sunburned and half dead at this point from sun exposure)

5th Band - Jack's Mannequin - I was looking most forward to them, their album was my #1 from 2005 and man, they did not disappoint. The lead singer/piano was phenomenal, so much energy- great sound and phenomenal crowd reaction. They must be amazing in a small club.
Highly recommended!

Unanimous vote by three of my boys they were the best band by far.

We skipped out at that point missing Authority Zero, Rise Against (would have liked to see them) and Incubus but our need to survive was greater. Saw every freak on the planet I think.

Lines were ridiculously long and no water??? Are you kidding me?? It was over 100 degrees outside...Never again for me and my boys!
