I have boxes and boxes of sports cards stored away, I have every Topps BB set from 71-82 (and I didn't ever by the set, I collected them and put it together myself!), sadly, after they started making eleventy billion different sets of cards I stopped. I think it's like $20 a pack now[;)][:(] I have tons of cool cards, cigarette cards (unfortunately no Honus Wagner!) unopened packs from the 60's thru 80's, all kinds of stuff. None of my 4 boys collects cards but they are all into sports. I save everything from sports events, just took everyone to Wrigley Field this past weekend for the first time, it was unbelievable being there with my dad and my boys. [8D]

I had some Jaws 2 cards, but I didn't really take care of them. I also have had Elvis cards, Beatles cards and I think Monkees cards.

But the ultimate was the Chew-Bops! Anyone remember those?

Seinfeld - Episode 74 - The Cigar Store Indian, Broadcast date: December 9, 1993
(Frank and Ricky are going through Frank's TV Guide collection. The coffee table is covered in boxes of the magazine.)

RICKY: I like the special fall preview issues the best.
FRANK: Those. I've been saving those from the beginning.
(The doorbell rings.)
RICKY: These are worth like, a lot of money.

Hooray for Seinfeld quotes. You are like the Seinfeld god of the NWO.

<br>I was into pokemon and yugioh when they were huge back in the day. I had all the cards, the magazines...I spent a fortune.

They really did use the term 'hard core collector' in a way. One of the HCC's was magically ided by the possession of card X- worth $5000....
then they started appearing in sets...then eventually in more popular sets....then in a $40 set....then in every $11 silver edition pack....now they are down to $.11 now.

You can practically get paid to take away peoples card collections becasue they are so worthless now.

Save for Magic The Gathering...the originals to that....are worth a lot even still.

I got into baseball cards in the early 80's when I lived in New York. As the article states "what kid didn't" we would flip them (a form of snap style gambling utilising the cards border colours). More so though I got into the Movie cards released by Topps and Fleer. I purchased packets of Moonraker, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Empire Strikes Back etc etc.

I have a love affair for the 80's and my youth (that period from 8 - 14) and to this end have bought quite a few boxes of cards (36 wax packs unopened). I know they are meant to be opened, but they were inexpensive and they have a unique evocation that is generated just by owning them in their pristine (somewhat) state. I have got Goonies, ET, Return of the Jedi, Raiders, Temple of Doom etc etc. I also have a Topps box of Cyndi Lauper cards, and a box of Duran Duran cards. I know they won't go up in value and I know my children will burn them when I'm gone, but strangely I still have to have them, they are like nostalgic icons. I guess I treat them as art.
