Stephen King's Desperation

Postby darwinsky » Wed Sep 13, 2006 4:24 pm

Since I didn't know whether to put this in the Stephen King thread or Latest Movie thread, I'm putting up a new one.

Just watched this the other night because the video rental guy recommended it ... as Rubbeet would put it, what a fookin' waste of time!

It's got all the elements I hate in a King story:

1. Dead person guiding/helping out the living get out of the shit they're in
2. All that talk about God. I mean, I keep the faith but I don't recall Charlton Heston mentioning His name so often in one movie.
3. The movie revolves around the kid... yeah, all the adults gather around him as if asking what their next move should be
4. No nudity/ sex (only King movie with nudity I recall is Sleepwalkers)
5. The evil spirit has got such a corny name: Tak !
6. Corny ending.

Another tele-movie (non-King) being offered to me is Triangle. Is that any good?

Desperation was the one with all the dogs lined up along the road wasn't it? I only watched about 15 minutes of it before thinking this is usual Stephen King crapola.

I only made it through 10 minutes of Triangle, too.

Yep. That's the one. Must have been really bad for you not to even remember the movie title.

You know, so many of King's books just do not translate well to the screen. I loved Misery. I think there was one morethat I liked, but I've forgotten what it was. The rest were crappy beyond crap.
