<br>$1000 for a watch? It still just tells the time right?

You're missing the point. It will make him "cool".[|)]

I get the point, but there are far better ways to look cool. I have four cheap watches that all make me look cool. That $1000 would be much better spent on some serious graphics hardware.

Oh and KYYX4ever, I know what you mean. Without a watch I feel naked. NAKED I tells ya!

There's a watch store in town that has watches that are thousands each but right now I think if I had moeny to spare I would go on a much-needed vacation! But peopel can buy what they want. I just don't get these women spending like thousands on a handbag,I mean I could buy a top-of-the-range laptop for that and a posh bag for it! (Of course if I see a handbag with a diamond encrusted 'Hello Kitty' on it I may change my mind LOL)

Actually, I was reminded at a recent dinner with friends that I still do wear my Nike Typhoon watch. Mine is in orange, unlike the black model shown. It's more of a summer watch for me as it boasts a very accurate tide calculator, useful for me as I am close to beaches and love going to them. But the watch is useful for any nautical enthusiast contingent upon tidal information be it the fisherman, surfer, scuba diver, kayaker, sailor etc. You can customize up to three beach graphs from a library of a hundred and eighty all around the world and see high, low and spring tide data accurate to the minute. In addition, the watch records the time of day when the tide was at it's highest or lowest. Finally, you can determine the state of tides for the next day or any subsequent day, even going out a few years.

Sure, you can consult books and graphs for this very same information but I love having it right on my wrist and readily (easily) availble at all times. All I have to do is look - I don't even have to push one button for my nearest available beach which is Montauk.

I love watches that do things (and do them well) besides tell time. My next watch I want to play mp3's or remote control my entertainment center. Any recommendations?
