The wussy song thread immediatly made me think of Phil.
What was the exact moment he went from awesome alternative type Phil to pansy ass Phil?

I don't know if I can pin point an exact moment but I hung on for his first 3 albums but he lost me after that. I found some comfort in the fact that Genesis' last album with Phil, We Can't Dance, for me was a last hurrah from the older Genesis that I knew.

"Billy Don't Lose That Number" was the definite sign that Phil was getting full of himself and gave up on making good music.

"Su, su, sussudio!" (gag!)

My Mom likes him, though. A tell tale clue that he has no edge whatsoever.

Kind of makes you wonder why it happens. Is it money? Is it boredom? Is it lack of ideas?

I actually saw Phil in concert and his big closer was ---gag--su su susudio!!!!

I was a huge Genesis fan! I know what happened. After he left the band he had a couple of hits. Then he did a soundtrack song and it went through the roof winning many awards. That has to be tempting. Stay true to genesis and slowly fade away or make soundtracks and get recognised. He was getting older and it was a chance few would pass up. I am not a fan of this stuff, I'm just telling you what happened. So disney (the evil empire) signs him and he cranks out many songs for their movies, gets paid Very well, and gets recognition and awards. Yes it is selling out but damn! What a deal! Buy me disney! I can write lame crap for you and my name is Phil too! I really cant blame him, after abacab (loved it) what was the future? BTW we spoke of this in another thread. Peter Gabriel and Phil both said they would reunite if possible. thats cool!
