Is it against the law to be anti Semitic? I thought freedom of speech was a right. I should be able to say offensive things about anybody without the intervention of law. Drunk driving is a crime, resisting arrest is a crime but anti-Semitism? That it might completely ruin his career I suppose is fair although it also shows how Jewish Hollywood is.
I think we would and should have acted against Israel long ago, condemned their wars of aggression and kept them confined within their original boundaries. Instead we sell them the means to massacre their neighbors and oppose any action against them. How many Jews are there in government and are they working in our best interest or in the interest of their 'other' country. If I could I would send money to Hezbollah. If they had rockets that reached into the heart of Israel things would change fast.

Whew Stella ... you're opening up a pandora's box here that is not going to be greeted very warmly.[V] Are you trying to test the relative "laissez faire" policy on this board or what?[xx(] On one hand I believe in freedom of speech, but if that speech is full of bigotry, hatred, paranoia and sweeping generalizations then it's yours or Mel Gibson's choice to draw your line in the sand and face the consequences.
I believe that criticism of Israel as a nation is warranted just as the policies of any nation including the U.S. of A., but to make blanket assumptions about Jewish people or even the people of Israel as a whole is completely unfounded. I'm sure a lot of people are upset with what the Israeli government/military is doing right now and they absolutely should be free to voice their grievances, but this is just taking it too far.
I'll let the chips fall where they may, but you're not going to find many allies here.

I think she's trying to be clever Mike...see what she can incite and then provide moralistic conclusions against the retorts in lieu of being able to carry on an intelligent self-motivated conversation instead. It's a common smug device of the clueless pseudo-literati that falsely think so highly of themselves. She must have studied under Quite Life.

Poor Mel - it's a setup. The Jews have been out to get him ever since "Passion Of The Christ". They tried to get to him through his dad. That didn't work. I wouldn't put it past them to manufacture the whole story. His BAC was .12. That's nowhere drunk enough for someone to go off on a stumbling, drooling, psychotic rant like that. Believe me, I'm an expert.
No matter what though, Mel never has to work another day in his life anyway. He'll be fine as long as he was smart enough to keep his $$$ out of our financial institutions. [:D]

So you would counter Israel's evil actions by helping to perpetrate evil against innocent Israelis? That is retarded. I'm infuriated that people are only ever seeing two sides to these problems. In this case, Hezbollah vs. the Israeli government. What about the other side? You know, the innocent Israelis and Lebanese. Their voice is being drowned out by the idiots screaming for violence and vengeance. I am a complete believer in free speech, but I think it is incumbent upon the speaker to exercise a little intelligent judgement before they open their stupid mouth. If you have a problem with Israel, know that it is the government you have a problem with, not the civilians. If you hate Hezbollah, Hamas, terrorist idiots of your choice, see them as the problem, not the average citizen trying to feed their family, stay employed, stay alive.
This board (actually, the internet) seems to give some the necessary push to make moronic comments. Half of the comments on here are completely sensationalist in nature. How about some self-censoring, not to be politically correct, but to actually contribute something to the conversation, not just typing some retarded comment because you've got a browser and some bandwidth?

Heh heh...I think Stella is responding to philly's post in another thread, wishing that someone here would stir some shit up. At least I hope that's Stella's intentions. If she's being serious...hoo boy.

Guys you can't have debate between people who agree. I think Mel is fucked too but do his comments justify a lynching? "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world, are you a Jew?"
I don't think it was the responsibility of the arresting officers to report his comments. I think the comments of drunks are non issues before the law and the accusations of cover up being leveled at the arresting police department unfair. It's the over reaction to the words of a drunk that bother me. Do I think there is hatred in his heart, you bet and I'm sorry for him.
So far as my feelings toward Israel and the support of that country by the US I think it would be reasonable if Jewish politicians recused themselves when votes affecting aid and policy to that country are taken.

So you think Jews are all biased towards Israel? Some of the harshest critics of Israel are Jews.
As far as Gibson's comments being reported, he is an actor and a director who makes his money from being a product for the masses. As annoying as it can be, his comments mean more than the average citizen's. Because he can make films that send a particular message, it helps to know what his real views are so we can see the reasoning behind the message he is selling.

That's no explanation, motors. You and I both know you can explain your points better than that.

And about funding Hezbollah, I hate an unequal fight. Only when both sides are equally strong will diplomacy take over. We sell weapons to Israel, we give them aid, we build them up until they are stronger than their neighbors in WMD and than stand by while they pound the shit out of civilians. That is immoral. Next election Hezbollah will win the majority vote and than the weapons we sold to Lebanon will come into play. Won't that be fun?
Beat School I absolutely see the difference between the people and the government. Ultimately though people have to act against immoral and unjust governments or risk being judged themselves.
