Favorite cheeeeeezy and weird 80's cult, horror, STRANGE flicks?

Here are a few of mine:

SHOCK TREATMENT - The "so-called" remake to Rocky Horror Picture Show, in my opinion it's just as good. It doesn't follow the same story line but Richard O'Brien does one hell of a job with the soundtrack in this one! and also stars in it along with Jessica Harper which got her start in the 70's cult classic "Phantom Of The Paradise" another favorite of mine

BLOOD DINER - How could you not love this movie? from the moment it started I knew this was my kind of movie. Sheetar still cracks me up, I wonder if there is a such a thing as the Goddess of Venus? lol

KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE - I remember always watching this on Sci-Fi growing up and quickly became obsessed with this 1988 comedy / horror movie. Popcorn guns and cotton candy cocoons, who comes up with this stuff? I love it!

CRITTERS - Not quite Gremlins but these guys were vicious and the ending to the first is really good! I liked the second also but I know these guys were not fond of the easter bunny [:p]

I would love to hear what you guys think?

I saw this one movie called "New Year's Evil" and have always wondered if it was something worth viewing ...

Only saw the last three. There was definitely a big period there for schlock-horror. For me "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein" took th cake by a long shot. I actually saw it in its 3-D re-release in theaters! Hilariously bad. I really don't know what Warhol was going for. Bizarrest line: "To know life, you have to f*ck death in the gall-bladder." WTF?!

I've always loved Pumpkinhead. What's not to like? Lance Heinrickson, a cool monster, various sterotypical teens, a swamp witch and the "old pumpkin patch graveyard."

The Gate - the gates of hell open in some kid's backyard. He (a really young Steven Dorif,) & his big sister must fight tiny claymation demons with a toy rocket. It also has monsters under the bed & parents who have also turned into monsters chasing the kids yelling "Youuuuu've been baaaaad!!!!!!" Love it.

Night of the Comet - Post apocalypse LA with Valley Girl survivors, Robert Beltran & Mary Wornov...and some zombies. This has got to come out on DVD someday!

Yep, I like Italian gore-fests, even the crappy ones.

"New Year's Evil" is a poor film, although Pinky Tuscadero's clown makeup is good for some unintentional laughs. So is all the supposedly punk music -- which bears more than a passing resemblance to heavy metal!

Now "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" -- that's a kult klassic. "We brought our goodies here for you! A tasty treat for while you screw!" The Dickies rarely ever came up with good songs, but the title track is brilliant.

Back when I used to host bad movie events for my buds, "Pieces" was decapitated head and dismembered shoulders above the rest when it came to crowd reaction. There are so many ridiculous quotables in that one, I could never list them all, but anyone who can sit through Lynda Day George's "Bastaaaaaard! Baaaaaaastard! Baaaaaaaaastaaaaaard!!!" line with a straight face is probably dead. An absolutely awful movie... I've seen it a hundred times!

There is one movie I bought a while ago called "Funeral Home" and it had the worst production and entertainment value I have ever seen in a movie

Can't leave out "The Forbidden Zone". Directed by Richard Elfman, starring Herve Villechaise and Susan Tyrell with a cameo from the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.

"Maniac", which if I remember right was quite a gore-fest, is on IFC tonight at 11pm.

Most of the movies I've seen in this genre don't come anywhere close to "favorites."

Although I do think there are three brilliant sci-fi movies that are really cheesy because the were poorly executed at the time, but actually had an awesome plot and should be remade.

Also, probably the one absolutely terrible horror movie that I love is from the early nineties called "People Under the Stairs." I'm not sure if this movie is supposed to be scary because it's hilarious.

I used to work at a video store and I know that "Terrorvision" and "Chopping Mall" in particular, although I've never seen them, look like they belong in this category. And oneno, Galaxina is available on DVD.

As a side: "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" is absolutely terrible, but it does have one of the best taglines I've ever seen: "In Space, No One Can Eat Ice Cream." ~ Which is great because it has NO BEARING on the movie whatsoever, AND it's not even true. Ever heard of "astronaught icecream?[;)]"

"Chopping Mall" (or "Killbots," as I also have it on tape under) is good fun. I only have fuzzy memories of "Terrorvision," but I can remember hating it.

After watching "Maniac" on IFC, everybody should go hunt down "Fanatic" (a.k.a. "The Last Horror Film"), which reunited Joe Spinell and Carolyn Munro (and rotted on the shelf for several years). Poorly-made, but incredibly funny, and it even uses Depeche Mode's "Photographic" over the opening credits. Regrettably, it was a made a couple years too early for the Felony song. Although if you want to see Felony looking, um, quite a bit different than they did in "The Fanatic" video, might as well go check out "Graduation Day." Of course, you'll want to watch "Graduation Day" and "Pieces" back to back, 'cause it makes a neat Christopher and Lynda Day George double bill.

Oh, yeah, and definitely make sure to catch "The House on Sorority Row," so you can see 4 Out of 5 Doctors' frontman Cal Everett outacting all the actual actors.
