I just heard it on the news. I also hate to hear this. He had alot passion with his working with animals & I always enjoyed watching his shows on animal planet.

RIP [V]

Crikey!

Awe, that just sucks!

Seems like he lived his life to the fullest. I feel bad for his family though.

I know his job was dangerous, but I figured that since he was so much in the public spotlight that he'd take as many precautions as he possibly could and thus wouldn't land in a situation like this. So it's a real shocker to me. RIP you crazy, crazy man. Your accent reminded me of "Crocodile Dundee"'s, but I liked you more.

Crikey!
Actually me and my kids loved watching him. That must have been a freak accident. Killed by stingray?

That really is too bad. I feel bad for his family. But I always thought that he would die by a more ferocious type animal like a Crocodile or something.

What a shock! He was only 44 - it's very sad. I watched his show for quite a while. I'll miss him.

I liked his style & enthusiasm. He was never appeared to be cruel to the animals, unlike some of the other animal show hosts (Jack Hanna, etc.) I especially liked that he had a child-like sense of joy & wonder about everything featured on his shows.

One of my favorite episodes was when he got chased up a tree by a Komodo Dragon.

It is tragic and sad to say he survived the dangerous creatures and got killed by a regular one! Still I guess he enjoyed his work![:(]

It's a shock but am I the only one who is not surprised?

Irwin repeatedly tempted fate by treating animals in a way that was bound to provoke a defensive response. After demonstrating dangerous and questionable handling tactics in order to generate ratings, he would admonish his audience, "Crikey, he's angry- don't try this at home!" No shit!

In one publicity generating incident he even held his infant son in one hand while feeding a large croc with the other. A move which left Michael Jackson wondering why HE didn't think of it first.

Maybe all that angry animal karma finally caught up with him. This guy swung tigers by the tail and juggled cobras but got killed by a stingray. That is like Evel Kneivel dying in a skatebord accident.

Moral: Don't f**k with mother nature!

The only question now is will his wife go back to dating Mork from Ork?

Actually this guy was a wildlife preservationist and put much of his wealth into animal parks and habitats, as well as wildlife education programs. He put his money where his mouth was.
And a stingray not a dangerous animal like a tiger or lion is ? Think again ! Terrible way to go !

Not in the least. The only thing that surprised me is that it took this long. Well, that and the stingray. Poor guy -- didn't even get to go out the way he always dreamed of. As crocodile food.
