There is a new feature in iTunes that allows you to browse MP3's much like I used to do with my album's in the old days. It uses a 3-D view that allows you navigate your collection by clicking on the artwork.

WOW. Thanks for the update Swampy! I'm big on including artwork in my iTunes library so I'm definitely going to have fun with this [8D]

What version of iTunes is that?
Is it for Mac or Windows? (windows I'm guessing)

I'm running 6.0.5 for the Mac.

Version 7 (PC), I'm sure the 7 (Mac) Version has the same features.

Just updated my iTunes to version 7 (thanks software update! [:)] ) and now I have the new and improved iTunes. When I updated, I noticed iTunes was checking all my files for "gapless playback" which I didn't realize, or maybe this is a new feature but...

...for example, with The Cars mp3's -- when Bye Bye Love blends into Moving In Stereo the "gapless playback" feature makes it sound just like it does when the cd plays.
Yes, people have been wanting this feature for a long time.

I'm trying to think of examples of songs like that -- entire Pink Floyd albums (for the most part) for example.

Wow, very innovative! Apple one-ups everyone again. When's the gatefold ability coming? Oh yeah, and I'd like to be able to pull out the virtual inner sleeve to view the lyrics![:D]

As for gapless playback, even version 6 does a pretty good job of transitioning between songs that are merged or mixed together. I wonder how the new gapless detection works?
It works perfectly. I thought I was going to have to re-import the cars songs, as I already had them in the playlist, but I didn't. I love itunes.

Played with this a few days now. The coolest new feature for me after the gee-whiz of the other stuff is the new "Album Artist" field. This is really great and overdue. Did you ever notice that albums that had collaborations got scattered into different directories? Like if DJ Jizzbomb had comps or collaborations on DJ Jizzbomb's Allnight Jizz Party with contributions by DJ Wedding Wannabe and DJ 3rd World, that shit would be all over...annoying, but no real solution except to put it in Compilations (which I don't want if there's a main 'artist') or call it all the same 'artist' with put "(feat. DJ Wedding Wannabe)" in the song title or comments or something.

So go forth and adjust your databases accordingly! [^]

I wish they had a place for links in the info page. If a band has a website, I've been putting it in the 'grouping' field, and I put the allmusic.com url in the 'comments' section.

If the had a links section, so you could just have clickable links, that would be a nice improvment.

Yeah, It's about time Apple came up with that Album Artist thing. 20 years ago I developed a record management DB and I already had that idea and field in place. Wonder what took Apple so long? I must say though that the new features are long overdue but they're so cool!

The feature I'm waiting for is a Natural Sort system. That way, I can find Peter Schilling in the S section instead of the Ps.

I wish I could access this feature, but I'm not giving them my credit card. It's only a matter of time before "xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx credit cards stolen from Apple"(even though it's not theirs)
