Being dead has done wonders for his output.

Not to disrespect his passing, but, I never cared much for him or his music. It always seemed to me that he was just asking for trouble.

I think his last words were really (and I quote) "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

The anniversary of his death has been all over the news out here. People seem to be split between two camps: those who think he actaully had something important to say and those who think he was a thug.

I can't believe there are several universities that teach courses devoted solely to him and his lyrics. WTF?!

(I guess I just showed which camp I belong to [:o)])

Syracuse University teaches a course in Lil Kim lyrics & her "vision of strong empowered women."

Funny, all I see is an overly siliconed, plastic surgery'ed up tool.

Heh. Yeah, when I think "strong, empowered women," hootchie mamas aren't the first things that come to my mind.

Isn't she still in the slammer?

I don't think so. I recently saw pictures from some awards show where she was escorted out by a couple of thugs dressed as police & she was in her orange prison jumpsuit.

Exploting your criminal record & romanticizing it are such great examples to set, aren't they?

Well, when you are devoid of talent, charm and creative ideas, you go for the cheap pops and there are always enough dumb shmucks out there all too willing to give their money to a talentless, charmless & uncreative skank.

Lil' Kim must be taking career advice from Madonna.

I won't make fun of a dead guy here as I don't want to ruffle the sensitive feathers of those who may overreact.

There are a couple of his songs I like and it's true, his post-mortem output has probably exceeded what he released while alive. For whatever reason, Tupac has a mythic status and cult like following. Being shot and killed may be the ultimate in street cred but it goes beyond that. As successful as Tupac was in life, he couldn't escape the reality of danger that those who live in decaying urban areas still face every day.

The glamorization of "thug/ganster" life pre-dates the current incarnation. Before the african-american version we had the italian- american version. There are few difference that I can see other than a strong connection too music.
