What is your favorite single malt from peete tasts of Isley, Highland or Spayside, or the smooth taste of Burbon County KY?

Whiskey, Bourbon, Scotch... couldn't tell you the difference if I had to. Except for me, they all bring about a nasty hangover and headache. My Dad likes his Manhattans though.

I don't like any of them. It must be the only alcoholic drink which I don't like but I just can't drink it.

Ahhh.. yeahhhh.. also Fernet makes me sick!! But you don't have that up there, I think.

Living here in Kentucky I would say some people are raised on the stuff. I'm partial to Buffalo Trace and Diet Coke.[:p]

I'm a vodka girl. Scotch and bourbon leave me with nasty headaches.

Well my all time favorite was loch dhu, but that is no longer available since it was actually created by mistake. My current fave would be Glendronach, but since I am expecting, I cannot indulge in anything.

Bourbon - George Dickel(although it's actually from Tennessee and called Sour Mash

Single Malt Scotch - I loved 17yr old Ardbeg, but now it only comes in a 10yr old variety and its almost undrinkable. But Lagavulin's 16yr old fills in nicely.
Glenfiddich 15yr old Solera Reserve is quite nice too.

Of course, these are within range of what I can afford. I don't want to get myself all worked up thinking about the bottles that would put a big hurt on my wallet.[:(]

Single Malt from Islay, all the way. Laphroaig, in particular. The peat-smoke flavor is unique and fantastic.

I have a horrible sweet tooth and so prefer the mellow vanilla aromas of bourbons such as Maker's Mark and Woodford Reserve. My dad is a huge fan of single-malts such as Laphroaig (sp) and when in Scotland found that Scottish drinkers of Scotch will drink only one bourbon, Woodford Reserve.

Conversely, if you are ever out west, Portland's Clear Creek Distillery makes McCarthy's, a prize-winning single-malted peated whisky in the Scotch style. I'm not a fan of that flavor but those who are tell me it's quite good. Clear Creek makes some amazing fruit brandies--not nasty fruit-flavored liqueurs, but clear, dry spirits actually distilled from fruit, similar to French Calvados or Poire William.

Finally, a little taste of Tacoma,, from a cocktail lounge adjacent to our world-famous Museum of (Gl)Ass:
Urban Bourbon:
1 part Cointreau
3 parts Maker's Mark

Muddle with orange slices. Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with orange slice and cherry.

Can you believe there is a magazine called [i]Malt Advocate[/i], which is replete with pages of pictures and articles about Single Malt Scotch and all its varietals? My husband, who brews beer at a microbrewery, gets a subscription from his work. Cracks me up every time! He likes Dalmore, Bowmore, Benriach, Knob Creek, The Glenlivet...oh, I think he likes them all.

Not me, though! I can't stand the taste. I'm a tequila girl myself(100 % agave, baby!)

I agree it is all about the AGAVE!!! but I raised this post because I picked up a bottle of Blantons Wiskey (the bulb like bottle with the Thourobread Race Horse on the cap) the other day it's not that bad. One more thing Tequila for me at least is a summer drink so when the weather gets cold like down into the daytime highs in the 60's in November i switch over to Scotch or Bourbon.
