That is a good question--to which I don't know the answer. I'm just listening to his old (90s) stuff at the moment. And I believe he's still big in Europe. They were playing one of his CDs at a coffeeshop in Amsterdam while I was visiting there last summer.

It's a shame he never took off here. I'm not much for french music, but at a time where Gangsta rap and shit rap like P.M. Dawn was about all you could find here, Solaar's stuff was a breath of fresh air. Now you got me wanting to listen to his stuff again, and all I have of his is cassettes, but no cassette player to play 'em! Dammit.
