Nice Dave.

I just grabbed the bootleg of Joy Division's Licht Und Blindheit with Atmospheres and Dead Souls on it. I know it's not the original (couldn't likely afford that one), but it's such a faithful reproduction that I'm really digging having it. It's got the 3-fold cover, Corbijn photo, colored vinyl, translations. Only missing the paper bag outer that I believe the original came in:

I'm sure someone here will burst my bubble by telling me how many copies of the original they have! [:I]

Yeah, it's just really damned cool. Now you know why these guys never made much money - cost of goods was always outstripping their revenues! [8D]

Very cool Blir.

I sometimes wonder if the band members own copies of some of the cooler pressings such as the Joy Division item. I read a recent Record Collector interview with Paul McCartney where he mentioned that he wished the Beatles had saved more of their records as they came out. He implied he hardly owns any of the original vinyl!

Pretty common really. Most of he artists I've corresponded with no longer own copies of their releases. When I ask why not, most say they never thought they would be worth anything, and none anticipated the arrival of CDs.

I wonder how many were pressed of this? I suspect not a whole lot (maybe in the hundreds?).

My guess based on the trouble I've had hunting one down: 300 - 500 max.

he's kind of ignored my advances on the Vice Versa....but that is how I "met" him ---he had a bunch of cool ABC stuff on ebay about 4 years ago (ok --well it wasnt that cool of stuff), but he did sign a copy of the UK Look of Love 12" I bought from him) within the package he sent a signed 7" pic disc of "SOS" and a phototgraph of he and his son...he then sent me a photo of he and Bowie...
