Damn, the place I by vinyl from closed down and moved about 15 minutes further away from me so now it takes 30 minutes to get there. On the upside, I found another place (near the new destination) that is even better on selection (but not on price).

Worth the trip now. Here's the strange part....I used to love going to this place called "Underdog Records" back in the late 70's (got a large part of my collection there). Well, this new place IS "Underdog Records"....he started it up again. So cool seeing "Sonny" back dishing out the plastic! Great Christmas for me.

This will be of interest to a few people here (Ollie and goutroy to name 2). Here is a copy of Square Dance that I picked up on eBay recently.

<img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z302/eight6pics/FoodandShelter.jpg">

Don't laugh at my unfinished music room wall!!! I'll get it done...eventually.

What makes this copy interesting is that it has a hand painted jacket instead of the sheet metal one. I thought it was a hoax when I first saw it, but the vinyl is as the seller stated, unplayed, (A & B side dead wax matrices match my other copy) so I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the jacket. In pen near the spine is a name I can't read and 31 / 200.

Finally, I can play this lp without risking the loss of a finger.

That record certainly is an attention grabber, eight6. What's the story behind this band/record? When was it issued?

Here's a post on the mutant sounds blog from a while back, including the infamous sheet metal sleeve, and other contents. I'm fairly lucky...my copy with the metal sleeve is in excellent shape, the previous owner had the good sense to keep the record and metal jacket separate.

Nice score on the F&S vinyl!

I wonder if The Cardboards did the same thing?

Thanks for the link eight6, they sound pretty interesting. I wonder how much each sheet metal record cost to produce...I love the fact that is is an art piece you can listen to!

Secession:
Fire Island 12"
Touch 12"
Michael 12"
Radioland 12"

Torch Song:
Don't Look Now 12"

Honestly, I didn't know that my copy of the Secession LP was such a big deal until I started to investigate. Now I have to get all of these vinyl records moved over to MP3s so I can listen to them on my iPod. Oh, it's a labor of love, really...isn't it? [:D]
