That Bette Bright one is I'm always on the lookout for -

Lately I feel like there haven't been any major discoveries but have grabbed some interesting oddballs...

Symbol Six ep - Posh Boy early LA punk

Anne Clark - Pressure Points - had never heard of this before but grabbed it when I saw it was produced by John Foxx..

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Left Hands Dream (w/ Robin Scott from M)

Group 87 - self-titled

Major Thinkers - self-titled. This one's interesting - I'd never heard of it before, but it has the early 80's american new wave sound down perfectly. Some of these are sound just like lost Devo songs.

does that Major Thinkers lp have "Tears and Synthesizers" on it ? I have been looking for that song for years with no luck.

Good catch with Anne Clark ! Yum!

KYYX - this Major Thinkers release does not have a song called 'Tears and Synthesizers' (although I wish it did - great song title). What I have is actually more of an ep, with 4 songs on side 1 and 'dub' versions of 2 of them on the flip. 1983 release date, Portrait Records. Could be the same band - - I may have a promotional-type ep that probably went to a college radio station; there coulda been a full-length lp with that song on it.

Thanks for the info Ekahob...the record pictured is the one I have. Great web site - - why haven't I seen that before??? I forget there are other sites beyond this one on the world wide web....

I'm listening to this again now - - the 2nd song, "Wicklow Hills" sounds like the inspiration for the recent Postal Service release.

Latest acquisitions:
Masters of Reality (1st album)
The Boyzz ~ Too Wild to Tame
The Silencers 2 LP's (not the Jimmie O'Neill version which came later)
The Silencers ~ A Letter from St. Paul
Gang of Four ~ At the Palace (live)
Gloria Mundi ~ I, Individual & The Word is Out (these guys were maybe the first goth band ever)
Sid and Nancy ST
Silicon Teens ~ Music for Parties
Peter Murphy ~ Love Hysteria
The Saints ~ (I'm) Stranded
Skafish
Pete Shelley ~ Homosapien

Oh and someone mentioned Bette Bright. She was in a band called Deaf School with Clive Langer, the producer.
I found a double album of their first two releases, 2nd Honeymoon and Don't Stop the World. Good stuff.

I recently picked up vinyl of The Big F's 1st album! I couldn't believe I found it since it was printed in Germany and I bought it from a seller in the UK! If you don't remember these guys you can refresh your memory at:

http://www.oozingbrain.com/thebigf/splash.html

The crazy thing is that I discovered this band because 2 of them were in the band Berlin (remember "Take My Breath Away"?). These songs are so hard rock I couldn't believe it was the same guys!

Have never heard of the Big F before....

Some stuff I've grabbed over the last couple weeks (it's been kind of dry lately)....all in the $5 or less category

The Essence - Purity (inspired by a recent thread)- very Cure as expected

Personal Effects - self titled debut ep (again, based on a recent thread - good band!)

The Low Numbers - Twist Again with the Low Numbers - kind of early ('78) new-mod on Rhino Records; the vinyl is marbled (!!)

Voice Farm - self-titled - late 80's synth/dance type stuff

D-Day self titled

Soul Attack - self titled ep - discovered on Ekahob's site, good new wave pop rock

Insect Surfers - Sonar Safari ep - no synth, but plenty of farfisa!!

Martha and the Muffins - Trance and Dance

Ideal - self titled - very German; I think you mentioned this recently, Firefall. Not a conventional record!!

Carlene Carter - Musical Shapes - Rockpile backing her up, on F-beat records

Lastly - my find of the week - not new wave, but an original copy of Bill Haley and the Comets "Rock around the clock with.." lp on Decca Records in a $1 bin!!! The woman at the counter says, "hmm, this might be a mistake - - oh well..."! The cover is decent enough and the vinyl is admittedly in tough shape with surface noise throughout, but it plays through and sounds great to my ears!!

What i found the last week-Kim Fowley''Sunset Boulevard''(his most punky effort from the hot 1977),Nina Hagen''s/t''(great deput with a quirky backing band, The Spliff),Kursaal Flyers''Great artiste''(tough pub rock predating the punk explosion and bands like Records and Motors),The Movies''India''(a bit complexing power pop with strong guitars and reggae influences),La Dusseldorf''Viva''(post Neu, Krautrock, experimental, airy and a bit new wavish)Mike Batt''six days in Berlin''(prog rock) and Roxy''s/t''(the first band of power pop maestro Bob Segarini,a folk-country meets Rasberries sound with nice vocals).
