MSK so glad you posted some of these.
Saw British's questions re: Flexipop. I've got most of the Flexipop discs, there are 30 odd discs. Most of the various Flexipop discs contain songs from the time frame that MSK mentioned (roughly 1979 - 1984. Though some are from the late 80s and even early 00s. But I'd estimate that each disc is 95% '80s material. some are 100%), most are obscure b-sides to "lost" singles wth limited release -- some orphic in their obscurity -- and most are synth based. The discs were assembled by European DJs with access to some really extraordinary tracks.
Browsing through the discs you'll find early synthpop, goth, industrial and quirky pop.
There are only a handful of sites dicussing the discs but several of the compliations contain "notes" on how they were assembled, detailing the tracks and giving background details when available. Here is a copy of one of them. (I copied this and pasted it from Art Corpse at: http://members.shaw.ca/ecorpse/Tribute% ... exipop.htm.)
A Tribute To Some Bizarre Compilation assembled 12/13/02
This compilation was a collective project....assembled by a multitude of different archivists in the community. It represents a sum of concentrated efforts of individuals in restoring old vinyl and tape. We centralized our efforts in collecting old new-wave bent to the synthier side of the 80's. There is also interest in the new artists whose obvious influences were to the analog and synth side of the 80's..... I hate trying to categorize these things....It has been tried to many times before.... However the artists that have spent their own money to put out a record or CD and who have labored over a 4 track recorder to get their ideas across to whoever might listen. Only to produce the best damn music .... never heard ..... This is the spirit we are trying to save.... Recover the lost masterpieces in the way that AMC salvages old celluloid film..... This Compilation represents users and archivists doing the same thing ..... saving the classics...... Please enjoy this work in progress and if you know any of the lost artists..... Please lets get them involved.....
and now the tracks.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Track 1 - The Gadgets - Kyleaking/Making Cars.....
This is actually 2 separate songs Kyleaking being a short introductory piece of incidental music and Making Cars being the ditty...... The Gadgets at the time of this recording were Colin LLoyd Tucker, John Hyde and Matt Johnson.... This was from the first LP "Gadgettree" and a very hard to find piece of vinyl and even a CD reissue.....on Plastichead..... The Gadgets have 4 other albums and of course Matt Johnson and John Hyde went on and did their own things later on..... This track was recorded in '79 - '80 ....Anemiccinema Rip
Track 2 - Lolita Strap - Video Screen.....
A newish track from the B-side of a 12" release called "My Dance" ... I was there again told that this track was in fact better than the A side.... There again reinforcing the old B-side philosophy.......This track was released on the Creme Organisation label 2002 release. Track is recorded in the same time frame. Dig those vocoders man..... Track 4 - Kitchen and The Plastic Spoons - The Poet
The track is taken from the very rare Swedish compilation 'Dansa med Fig. 13' which was released on Castor records in 1983. The members of Kitchen and the plastic spoons were two of the most influential producers on the Swedish new wave scene. Their names are Johan Vävare and Janis Bokalders.

Track 5 - Rupert Hine - Picture Phone
From a 7" release in 1983 Island records.....also on the "Wildest wish to Fly" Lp... Rupert hine was also in a band called Quantum Jump and also did an Lp under the name Thinkman. Rupert Hine has probably made more success as a producer... Producing many albums for artists in the 80's... all the Howard Jones lp's, all The Fixx lp's, Thompson Twins, the first Underworld album "Underneath the radar" . Anemiccinema rip

Track 8 - The Human League (The Future) - C'est grave
This is actually a new release of an old track. Ever since the appearance of the www.blindyouth.co.uk ... there has been a desire to find those lost Human league recordings ... that until then no one knew even existed. Recently there has been a Cd release of the old Future and Human League tapes called "The Golden Hour"...... There was also a 12" promo that accompanied the CD release. This track comes from the Limited edition promo ...which from what I understand is already an auction finder. Only 2000 copies exist and already are sold out. Here is the information on the track from the website
"C'est Grave This is a collaboration between The Human League and their tour manager/engineer Timothy Pearce, who provides lead vocals.
It is certainly one of the most bizarre tracks associated with the League; musically, it could almost be a blueprint for the New Romantic dancefloor antics of Visage (who this track pre-dates), but Timothy Pearce's demented vocals are a world away from those of Steve Strange! It's virtually impossible to imagine Philip singing this one...

This track was given to me along with a whole bunch of early tracks during their formative years in Melbourne, Florida ...Not Australia....I was keen on their sound and looks like now they are relatively popular in the Industrial gothic circuit.....This track culled from a battery of tracks from an untitled demo cassette around 1989

Track 11 - Ericka Irganon - In Your Bush
This track is a mystery too me.... The song is definitely a Ptose track. Now is it a cover or is this the original version. This track was taken from a french cassette only compilation entitled
"Sensationnel #2" which had other tracks from Absolute Body Control, Attrition, Etant Donnes, Unovidual, P231 etc 90 minute cassette of international musics.....1984 release.. This Ericka Irganon track also appears on "Boule" various Christmas cassette which featured Mark Lane, Renaldo and the Loaf, Die Form, DZ Lectric, Van Kaye Ignit etc.....this cassette was released in 1985. The question is who is Ericka Irganon and is this just another pseudonym for early Ptose?......You tell me

Track 19 - Suicide Commando - Out of Mind
This track is from the ZNS tape "This is Hate" one of the first Suicide Commando release. Doing the same thing Absolute Body control was doing during the eighties. In fact they both appeared in many of the same compilations. A truly addictive track that probably was remixed later as another release. This track along with the very first 2 cassettes by Suicide Commando can be downloaded at A Vogels site. In fact this guy is definitely doing a lot of work to making his entire ZNS catalog availble free for download. He has almost all of the cassette releases available. All of it great early electronic and Punk releases from the early Belgian scene. He is working on the ZNS compilations right now of which there were at least 10 different ones all with unreleased tracks by artists like A:grumh, Trigger B, S-Core, Xray Pop, Somewhere in Europe,E truncheon, and many others...just go there and check out all the cassettes for download now and enjoy at http://zns.gewalt-am-objekt.org
