This 2 DVD set is supposed to be coming out...anybody know when? Ebbhead tells me that it is for sale already somewhere in NYC, but doesn't know exactly where.
Will it be a live concert, or will it have promos, tv appearances etc?

Here's my review of the 2xCD from TCPunk

I got it Tuesday, but I had had it downloaded for a few weeks prior.

Biased review:

It's fucking Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk are gods amongst men. Buy it if you're a fan. Buy it if you're curious and await conversion.

Unbiased review:

It's a live Kraftwerk recording. Kraftwerk live is virtually the same as kraftwerk in the studio. If you bought The Mix in 1992 (or whenever it was released) and 2003's Tour De France Soundtracks then you really don't NEED this 2xcd set. Most of the songs have been reworked* and some lyrics have been rewritten as in the case of "Expo 2000" which is now "Planet Of Vision" and "Radioactivity" is an anti-nuke song as opposed to singing the priases of FM. Stunning audio quality and nice packaging in the cd. I got it on sale for $15.99 and it is well worth the price for a true fan. For the casual fan it acts as a good "best of" but not representative of the Kraftwerk sound that influenced every form of electronic music since 1976.

* I was so tempted to write "rewerked", but that would have just been cheesy.

A while ago there was a bootleg live DVD on sale at darla. Can't wait for the official one

Hopefully Numan's Living Ornaments DVD's would be out soon too.

Yes, I have a DVD of one of the 2004 concerts filmed by someone in the audience. At one point there were dozens of different KW DVDs for sale on ebay.

looks like there is finally some movement on this front! Here is a listing from HMV Japan, stating a September 2005 release (that's 2 months!)

Wonder if the DVD is in German or English ... or maybe they have different ones :).

For the CD, I picked up the English one locally and leeched the German one. Asides from the vocals, they seem exactly the same! How live is that?

If you want to see some guys in their fifties wearing Tron costumes standing perfectly still for a couple of hours, the DVD set is for you. Not slamming Kraftwerk, I LOVE their music, but seeing them "perform" is pretty pointless.

I was at Amoeba Records in L.A. the other day and they had the 2xDVD set. I didn't pick it up but I will soon. I don't care if it's a bunch of old dudes just standing around, it's KRAFTWERK!!!

[/quote]Hutter Hey you share the same last name as Kraftwerks front man!!! Every true fan of Kraftwerks would not expect anything more. It is their timeless Minimalism that maximises their image. Imagine how horrid it would be if they had dancers on stage or worse they could be carrying those tacky keyboards with strap like guitars prancing around the stage like Ozzy? You didn't mention the video backdrop which supplies some very cool eye candy. I'm glad that Kraftwerk stays the course and doesn't veer into what everybody else is doing. Would you say the same for anyone else who performs while seated say like a symphony or an unplugged performer?

The Notebook Edition of Minimum Maximum appears to be the crown jewel of any music collection by far. WHOA:
