MTV played their video for "Independence Day"...that's how I discovered the band.

Never once did I hear anything of theirs on the radio, and the only video I ever saw in the '80s was "Will You Stay Tonight" -- and I didn't even see it on MTV, I saw it on "Night Flight." As Blir can tell you all, I don't know the video for "Independence Day" from my hand. (Apparently, I don't know the instrumental break from my hand, either.) I haven't caught any other videos -- certainly not "I'm Falling." I see MTV-2 showed "The Cutting Edge" back in 2000. I guess I'll have to sit down and watch it one of these days. It might be the first and last time it will ever be seen.

Jive Records just weren't supportive at all, and there were plenty of commercial-sounding bands that had plenty of promotional support that still fell flat on their face, so it isn't surprising to me to see a not-especially-commercial band, whose record label dumped their records onto the shelves, stiff.

Man, I'd love to see the video for "Will You Stay Tonight". I can't believe Night Flight played it. It must have been during one of their video director profiles or something.

I do remember the Cutting Edge video. That one got a lot of airplay on 120 Minutes. I'm surprised it hasn't turned up on eMule or some of the other p2p sites yet.

tom, after I whiffed on "Independence Day" on the last NTT video round, I found it on, of all places, the VH1 website. And guess what's keeping it company...

<br>I also like these guys, and actually heard them back in the day, but they had absolutely no promotion in the US, it seemed. Among my small circle of friends who were into this type of music like me, we just found them by accident (they were played on the college radio station KAOS 89.9 FM Olympia, WA). hard to find elsewhere.

Angie, same here! First time I heard them was in 1980 on college radio WAMU in Wash D.C. The song was "Missing In Action" and I still have the cassette from the night I taped it off the radio in '80. Great song! Has a really cool 1st 60 seconds.

Just watched the "Independence Day" video. Never seen Comsat before....been a fan for 25 yrs and never seen them. I just seriously choked-up watching this. Not sure why.

For years & years I thought I was the only person who even knew of these guys & here we have dozens of people sharing their memories. NWO is awesome.

I haven't posted much on here in the past 6 months or so, mostly because I've been spending most of my free time cataloging, sorting & listening to the frikkin 4,000 punk/post-punk/new wave songs I d/l from the Hub. There's just no way to express the gratitude I feel. [:)]

New Wave Outpost, the internet in general, its amazing to think that there are not only other people, but SO MANY people that are interested in the bands you like. Its kinda like going to see a band that you think noone else likes at a small venue and its packed!

FYI, the VH1 music site is just a portal for the All Music Guide. All Viacom music websites are: go look on CMT's artist page, you'll find Comsat Angels there too!

Wow, I have never seen any videos from the Comsat Angels and "Will you Stay Tonight" is an all time favorite of mine.
I cannot find my copy of "Independence Day" anywhere. Can someone send one to me please?
Thanks
