Some of the BBC Sessions can be hit and miss, but most of the time, there are really cool versions and takes of our favorite songs. It's a cool way to hear a different version.

love bbc sessions - so many great versions, especially nice if they were recorded before releasing the real albums/singles. there is some great one by the cure, bunnymen, joy division, b-movie, the sisters of mercy, the mission,... too many to mention... at times I even prefer them to the real studio versions, as they are normally more minimal sounding + the emptiness of lots of songs leads to great versions.
I wish though that most of them would be officially released, especially things löike all those sisters sessions or the cure at the beeb would be great releases!

I think they were great --The Smiths almost got a full LP off of them (Hatful Of Hollow)....The John Peel session records are always good too ---

what made them great was that they were recorded (pretty much) live -no audience....sometimes the songs had more energy than the LP cuts, but they were still "clean" sounding ---I especially like the China Crisis BBC sessions as well as OMD...

It's a shame about John Peel, we need people like that on the radio. Somebody who shakes stuff up, i remember he did alot of sessions.[:(]
