meh.. the whole list is just an ignorant look at music by mal-informed people.

Music sells and charts because people like it. Tastes change (for some), but the music has still been liked at some point by a majority of peoeple.

I like to call some songs "questionable" but never "worst".

As a list of pure shit, that's more like it. The only song on there I can tolerate is Barbie Girl and that's only because MXPX did a hilarious cover of it.

That "Wild Wild West" song, I'm grateful to NOT remember the band...

"Oh look at me I'm covered in punk, covered in new wave, covered in You..."

I have a feeling this will be unpopular, but maybe by saying it, others will feel welcomed to come out and join me. Maybe, just maybe, others have been thinking this and will realize they are not freaks.
Here goes:

I have always loathed everything Duran Duran did.

I said it. I put it out there. I am ready for whatever it may bring--good or bad.

Unfortunately Wendy, this means you are not a human.

Begone with you back to Planet Gagglehock!

(any reason why you don't even like 1 of their songs?!)

Duran Duran is not for everyone, but I am surprised a New Waver doesn't find any appeal at all.

I know that Duran Duran's surge of appeal in the early 80's was a turn off to many who gravitate to the alternative.

However, a listen to the full albums or b-sides of their 1980-1985 output gives the band a lot more depth.

Yes, many of Duran Duran's singles enjoyed heavy rotation, even on more mainstream radio towards the mid-80's. Should you forsake their work because of this? I would argue against that.

Maybe it's a sparkle and flash of the more popular singles. Well, for every Girls On Film, Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf, or Reflex - there is a darker, grittier, and moodier Careless Memories, Faster Than Light, Khanada, Night Boat, Sound Of Thunder, Friends Of Mine, New Religion, The Chauffuer, The Seventh Stranger, and many others. Nick Rhodes insists that band sets are not "just the number ones" and that a balanced performance includes a wider range, much like a Roxy Music album.

And don't overlook the masterful instrumentals: Tel Aviv, Faith In This Colour, or Tiger Tiger.

Duran Duran isn't merely the Tigerbeat pin-ups many make them out to be. That image sold records, but it isn't the whole story.

Most of the later records were not as strong as the output up to 1985, but many of the singles represented exploration into new musical territory for the band. Unfortunately, they were measured against their past success and had a hard time matching that bar - especially without all five primary members.

Again, Duran Duran isn't for everybody. However, they might be worth a second look.

^ extremely well-said.

I was one who took DD for granted in the 80's. Its thanks to my wife that they are now one of my favourite bands of all-time. Some of their b-sides and just plain fantastic. I can pretty much listen to DD for hours without getting bored. They have a very diverse range of musical styles. Their new material is also excellent (if given a fair go). DD (specifically in Australia) are terribly under-rated. To me, they are truley one of the greats of the new wave / new romantic era, and have solidified their place in music history, not to mention the fact they are (now) still producing great material.

Damn, and I dig that song alot. Not nearly as much as Fantastic Day, but still like it. Another favorite song by HC100 has to be So Tired, from their Paint On Paint release. Sans Nick Heyward but still excellent.

While I will admit it is just my own personal taste, I never cared for Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz.
