Favourite EPs of all times

Postby profpike » Wed Jul 05, 2006 4:24 am

You know what I'm talkin' about-the EP-it never really fit into the American Single/Album mindsite, did it? And yet, they were a staple of the european market for years.

Heck, it seemed everytime Andy Partridge went to the can he left an eps worth of tunes in the bowl.

So, what were our favorite Eps? Here's a couple to get us started:

Afoot-Let's Active-I enjoyed Let's Active back when it was more of a band and less of the "mitch easter experience" I don't know-but the longplayer's that appeared under the name Let's Active-always seemed to go on a bit-this however, was a handful of fizzy pop-goodness that melted in your brain, not in your hand-wonderful!!

Black Market Clash-and on the seventh day Epic Records stuck a bunch of UK releases on 10" slab of vinyl and it was good.

Dream Hog-The Suburbs-Danceable weirdness from one of the Twinc Cities all time greats.

The Miracle Legion-The Backyard-this is one extended player I really wish was longer-file under: one of my favorite pop expericnes of the 80s.

The Hawaiin Pups-Split Second Precision-Damn-this is just...damn..I think we all knew where we were when we first heard "Baby Judy"

okay-ransack your reckid collections!!

Some great choices already. I also liked the 10" New Muzik release of Straight Lines.

First one that came to mind was Martin L. Gore's Counterfeit e.p. Definitely the first three songs on it I listened to over and over when I first got it. That's the e.p. that got me into Tuxedomoon, The Durutti Column, The ComSat Angels, and Sparks.

Bill Nelson - Living In My Limousine.

Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias - Kill EP

The punk scene in a nutshell and takes the piss out of it at the same name. The reggae track also lampoons the punk's attempts to do reggae.
