Know about a cool unsigned band?

Postby Jason² » Sun Aug 20, 2006 1:20 pm

Cordless is taking it to the public! And I'm taking it to you. We're looking for some cool, young, unsigned artists who are on the up-and-up but aren't quite ready for prime time. If you're hip to a new band that's just starting to get their shit together, don't hesitate to let me know. You can email me at jason@cordless.com - just put "from New Wave Outpost" in the title of your email so I'll know it came from someone on the board.

What are we looking for? Anything interesting - but the artist has to be serious about their career and about playing live. We're not looking for the hobbyist who likes to tinker at home and could get serious if a label is interested - but artists who work their asses off promoting themselves, playing 7 nights a week, seeking friends on MySpace, posting their music all over the internet and working it as if it's the only thing that matters.

So, if you know of a new artist that you think has the right attitude and sound, PLEASE let me know.

Cheers!

Hi Jason.

I sent you an email about a great band here in Austin, TX, called Rescue Misson. Here is their web site in case you do not get my email: http://www.myspace.com/rescuemissionmusic

I have seen them live and they sound really tight and have it together. Thanks,

Rob

I would have said them, but apparently, the wheels are in motion.

They're from here on Long Island and have been doing commercials for 1-800-OK-CABLE for a while now. I guess their ads were the favorite, because they were recently invited back to record a new version with different lyrics. That damn thing's been stuck in my head for 2 years.

But you can always check it out. I don't think they have a major label deal or anything.

Jason, there is an unsigned band called Virgo Love Cancer that I've been playing on my web radio that I think is fantastic. They are a bit of a mix between My Bloody Valentine and The Sundays, with maybe The Primitives thrown in. Check them out on myspace, they do a cover of Radiohead's "True Love Waits" that is just gorgeous.

Also, let me know if there are any new wave tracks by Cordless artists that you would like me to add to our playlist. We've only been broadcasting a little over 4 weeks, but our listenership totals have risen each week and are starting to accumulate to some nice numbers. You can email me directly at bluespaceradio@yahoo.com if interested.

I don't think Blue Fairy Godmothers here in Fargo are signed to anyone and are just doing their own releases-kinda quirky pop-

reccomend if you like XTC, Stackridge, Of Montreal and the Minders.
