<br>Thanx God, the UN assigned me to the Philippines where I had the chance to listen to fantastic New wave music. Who knows, had I been assigned to the US, I would probably be like some of those dudes who think Prince, Madonna, Devo, The Cars, the Pretenders, Talking Heads and Oingo Boingo are the best new wave artists on earth![:D]

That's a scary thought, Fanciz! The idea of going through the '80s not hearing the Lotus Eaters, Care, the Wild Swans, Martin Ansell, the Railway Children, Seona Dancing, the Farmer's Boys, h20, the Room, and Furniture on New Wave stations but tons of Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, and (gag) the Producers instead is a nightmarish alternate reality that probably drove my otherworldly doppelgangers to insanity.

Yeps I felt so lucky that I decided to stay in the Philippines, the home of genuine new wave music, the hell with the System![:D]

The UN, you say? You guys are doing a heck of a job, Fanciz.

That's right, we took care of 15,000 Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians refugees. We fed them, we trained them on how to use toilets and we shipped them ....... to the US![:D]

Even though we are classified on this as a state, which would and does horrify most Canadians, we had a ton of great new wave bands and tons of great tours like the Police picnics. Most of my friends were wavers and still listen to the old music too. I had a radio show up until I moved to America, and I had tone of requests for the more obscure new wave that I would play. My show was actually against the bigger CFNY/EDGE 102.1 show and still had a ton of listeners.

Frankly, I don't know why some dudes like to antagonize others on this forum. We are supposed to be brothers in arms to promote new wave and yet....Dunno may be it's the american way, life style or whatever... I travelled the world but I've never set foot on the US so I have no answer, still wondering ....[8)]
Frankly, I don't know why some dudes like to antagonize others on this forum.
I think most of the time people are just trying to be funny. Comments such as this "Philippines, the home of genuine new wave music", I get a kick out of, especially now I know some of the history around here.

Who antagonized you this time Francine? You poor dear. I hope you can recover.

I will answer your question by stating the obvious. A lot of Americans don't suffer fools gladly. Perhaps that's your problem? Having America insulted by a Frenchman of all things can be a little annoying. Yes, the U.S. sucks but it's still better than France. As for you never setting foot here, please keep it that way. Or if you must come here, at least let me know when so we can have a meet and greet. [}:)]

It's so wonderful of U Motors to volunteer to meet me and ..... greet me upon my arrival in the US coz I'm afraid to be disoriented..
You see, some of my friends told me horrible things like to keep my eyes on the ground in New York coz a stare at someone could lead me to trouble... Also, they said that in a bar, I should emphasize my French accent so local bullies would leave me alone... I don't believe those things coz in Africa I worked for an American company based in Houston and everybody was so nice to me....I already know how to recognize an American hero coz I watched Superman but I've never seen a bully due to the fact that all my life I've only frequented civil and courteous people... Therefore, seing U would indeed be a very enriching experience.. Thanx a lot.[:D]

Cool. I'm glad I could help. I never realized that you've lived such a sheltered life. Civil and courteous people? In Manila? LOL. In France? HUGE LOL. I guess you don't get out much, huh? My condolences. I forgot that a superior person such as yourself would never find himself in many real life types of situations and therefore wouldn't meet anyone capable of showing you anything but false politeness. I should probably just go back to doing what every non-filipino on this board does and laugh at your typically French attitude behind your back. This is not an exaggeration. I may be a "bully" but I'm not a liar like the people you're used to. Time to do your country proud and surrender. [:D]

I love America, I found Boston MA to be quite similar to England actually! (WEll duh, it is NEW England! But the autumn/fall is way better there, all the colors) I don't think there is too much difference between the UK and the states personally except that you can buy way cooler things in the states and it's cheaper Yay! America it always seemed so big and exciting growing up and I was so happy to visit there. [:D][8D]

Motors, you sure seem to buy into every French stereotype that exists. You might try actually visting the country some time. The only one acting superior here is you. Read your posts. You went after someone unprovoked. Another dumb internet bully.

You're the one that needs to do the re-reading and not just in this thread. Every other post of his bashes the U.S. for having inferior taste to his own. It irritates a lot more people than just me.

Somehow you know every country I've ever visited? I won't call you dumb because I have too much respect for you but that was a ridiculous statement and one that is far beneath you.

BTW, I don't have to "act" superior to Fanciz. Not now. Not ever.

Where's Utah? [:D]

East of Nevada, west of Colorado, north of Arizona...

and hell yes we're new wavers! redxred will back me up. Where's egg-roger lately?

I'm chuckling about Blir calling Canada a state, but Mrs. scramjet would be deeply offended.

I'll back you up, Scramjet. Salt Lake City is one of the most New Wave cities in North America. We've had New Wave radio here non-stop since early 80's. The place is one of Howard Jone's favorite stops - in fact he filmed his live DVD here - see: http://www.dvdlard.co.uk/Content.aspx?ContentID=3017. Most touring 80's acts know it makes sense to stop over in SLC - The English Beat, Naked Eyes, and ABC just played a show together here last weekend. This weekend there is a Synthpop festival in downtown SLC sponsored by local label A Different Drum. I've lived in the San Francisco area and have to say I'm just as pleased with the 80's scene here.
