I think is was orange in color, and had added tracks not on the vinyl release? [?] Anyone remember this? [?]

That was one of my first new wave tapes also. I LOVED the extra tracks on it. Around the same time i was really into Bill Nelson and bought some of his tapes also.

First was OMD's Organisation, after a week, it was Pacific Age, after another week, it was Crush. I was buying cassettes at the time my peers were trading vinyl.

... aah yes, I loved the days when we were poor when winter banged on summer's doors ...

DSR, mr. simpson, do you guys remember the days when you just ask for one cassette title and the saleslady piles up a bunch of tapes in front of you, then when you tell her you are after just that one title, she gives you that look as if saying " then why didn't you say so, jerk!"

And then there was this one time the guy infront of me asks, "Miss, do you have any of those hard-to-find CDs?" Then she goes, "Who was the artist who sang that song?"

First of all, nice to hear from you again KABAYAN dar![;)] YUP dar you're very right about the saleslady thing. Actually, they really don't know what they were selling back then. Well, I think they weren't brief enough by their boses. I still have my cassette tape collections all piled up in an organized cabinet. It's nice to remember those days when we were students and we have to save our BAON to buy these stuffs dar. Now, it's a different story buying stuffs from your monthly earnings. WOW! A lot of prioritise aside from collecting NEW WAVE materials.[;)]

Yup. Talk about experience huh. 1 time im looking for cassette of X-mal Deutschland's album "VIVA". I wrote it down so she can understand easily but do you know what she told me? Look at VIVA Records. This happened in a mall at Cubao.

Then im looking for a Primal Scream album (which at that time, i didnt know it was unreleased locally, or was it?), then this saleslady brought out cassette of the band SCREAM.

And last but not the least, i asked the sales lady of Everything But The Girl,i didnt say EBTG. She said they have none, then i saw it on the display rack and told her " hey here it is", she said why didnt you say EBTG? I answered "why do you know about REM, what if some one asked you for Rapid Eye Movement?" It seems they know this bands by acronyms and not their real name.

And Kabayan, drop the "Mr." ok? Have a nice day[:)]

U2 - War. A friend gave it to me and I was instantly in love with Bono. Still am. He just gets better looking as the years go by. His music is pretty good too.

Duran Duran's "Arena". My boom box ate it and I didn't have the money to go get a new one, so I painstakingly smoothed out the crinkled-up part. Afterward, it'd sound all funny when that section would play.

The Police - Synchronicity

23 years ago last week, and I still haven't replaced it.

I didn't buy that many new wave cassettes. I was deep into taping records by then. I could get almost anything I wanted from a DJ friend. I did, however, buy the following cassettes:

The Fixx - Reach The Beach
Roman Holiday - Cookin' on the Roof
The Romantics - The Romantics
Echo & the Bunnymen - Songs to Learn and Sing

I can't remember which was first.

My pal KYYX will apreciate this:

My first cassette was Duran Duran's self titled debut [8D] I also got Hall & Oates' Private Eyes at the same time. I remember going to the mall with my parents right after Christmas when I got my first Walkman to buy tapes. This must have been 1982. Funny stuff, thinking about the old days [:D]

It's still there, alright. But like most record stores here, they diversified into vcds, dvds, mp3 players and whatnot. And there are more salesladies than there are customers.
