Anyone agree this song is so annoyingly bad it's great? C'mon!

I think I am starting to prefer this track over "The Animal Song"

"Recognition" was always just OK in my book, I just picked up the 'Vocabulary' LP and I am in love with "A+E+I+O+U"

Actually Devo It's a great song, one of the XB classics here in MANILA.[;)] I guess EUROPEANS were promoting the VOWEL SOUNDS.[8D]

I can't even remember it -- and I have the album. So... I guess that tells you all you need to know there.

I thought "Recognition" was their crowning achievement, being neither annoying gimmicry (like most of "Vocabulary") nor tuneless mood music (like most of "Recurring Dreams").

I will admit that there's never been a video like "The Animal Song" and there probably never will be.

Back in the day, I heard a song called "A E I O U"; liked it, wanted to buy it but didn't know who did it (no one I knew knew who did it either). So I picked up the Ebn-Ozn album. Wasn't what I was looking for, but not bad. Then I picked up the Europeans 12" of it. Wasn't it, either, but kinda fun. Then I picked up the 7" of it by Freeeze, and that was the one.

Who woulda thought 3 bands could use pretty much the same title and come up with three totally different songs around it?

I got "Recognition" after seeing a review for it in Smash Hits. I like it and deserved to get more, ahem, recognition. In an interview it was commented apon that the reason why "A-E-I-O-U" wasn't a hit was due to Freez releasing a track by the same name.

Vocabulary is a great album and don't know why the band isn't very keen on it, should be proud of it.

I'd rank it as slightly annoying and monotonous but enjoyable every now and then. I definitely like Animal Song better. The whole album is decent.

... I may well be wrong here but I'm sure there was a time back in 87 or 88 where there were 3 songs in the UK top 100 that were all called Power Of Love : done by Huey Lewis, Jennifer Rush, and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. There was also a time when in the top 10 when there were two songs called Fine Time at the same time : one by Yazz, t'other by New Order.

There was also "Rush Rush" by Debbie Harry and Paula Abdul. I think I sense another thread topic starting. [:)]
