Some of the choices are not really what I would call "goth". JAMC, Cocteau Twins, Misfits... although they had a big goth following none of them were really goth in sound or image.

Went for Pornography by The Cure as I think it's rather better than Juju.
Don't consider Unknown Pleasures as a goth album... produces a different vibe than the other two mentioned.

You have the GREATEST polls and your choices are just fine! People are so damn picky about who is and who isn't Goth!

... and what about "Clan of Xymox"? [8)]

Anyhow, I voted for Bauhaus... although I'm a big fan of Sisters of Mercy.[:I]

It's a toss up between The Cure and Sisters of Mercy. I love both albums.

well, I loved the Blood album more, but it wasn't on the list [:)]

but yeah, It'll End in Tears had some real beauty to it.

my vote is still undecided!

Yes, it's really hard to decide which one is better between those 3.
Instrumentally-wise, Disintegration wins.
Now, the lyrics in Faith and Pornography have never been surpassed.

Why Unknown Pleasures and not Closer? Closer was much more Gothic, especially "Decades."

The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland (1987).

I remember when i first heard "This Corrosion". It took me like a month to record it completely on tape from the radio, and couldn't stop listening it !

There's no such thing as a good Goth album!

I've always found Goth useless and I find most of it....ready for this?...abysmal!

Then again, it seems like almost every band I've ever loved has been upbeat with a somewhat positive musical vibe. I prefer 'ba ba ba ba' and 'tra la la' type choruses rather than the slow, dark funeral dirges of Goth bands. Goth annoys the fuck out of me....always has and hopefully always will....

I don't dig the 'look' either. Powder white makeup surrounded by black clothes, black hair, black lipstick, etc. Some of the Goth girls I've known over the last 25 years have been absolutely beautiful and don't do themselves any favors by Gothing themselves up. But who am I to say? I'm fat and ugly....
