Naked Eyes

Postby TheMunDial » Sat Sep 30, 2006 2:23 am

I just wanted to start a thread about this band, who I think were great.

Any other Naked Eyes fans out there?

Unfortunately, they're not that well known out there in the ether, and I only have these songs:

Fortune And Fame
Emotion In Motion
Promises, Promises
Voices In My Head
Always Something There To Remind Me
(What) In The Name Of Love
When The Lights Go Out

I wish I had more...

You can easily purchase lots more from them. Most of their material has bee issued on CD now. Also Pete Byrne solo material.

I like Naked Eyes, too. My favorite songs of theirs are The Time Is Now and I Could Show You How. I'd always wished that they had more songs.

The first LP Naked Eyes is one of my favorites of all time. Add in the song The Time Is Now and it's perfect.

Careful about verb tense - they still are great (although, sadly, Rob Fisher passed away in 1999). I love 'em. Just saw them play live last month and also a year ago. Pete Byrne has some great new material out and puts on a great live show. Check their tour schedule, you might be able to see them.

Burning Bridges is also an outstanding song. Their first album is near perfect. The second album was good too but had its flaws. Totally love the band but I heard the Rob Fisher is no longer around. Is that true?

I've always loved Naked Eyes....

I got into them because I was a big New Musik fan and I'd pick up anything that NM leader Tony Mansfield was involved with. When I heard the debut album, I LOVED it. I had the first pressing (bought it first week of release...stumbled upon it by accident, actually) that had "Always SOmething there To Remind Me" without the rolling program drums at the very start. Just went right into the song. That version has never made it to CD as far as I know...

Naked Eyes was one of the first few bands that I got 'tired' of listening to- 'coz my older bros would play them over & over again. I know most of the lyrics by heart![B)][:D]

I somewhat knew that Naked Eyes was still out there in some capacity, but it's great to hear that the world can still enjoy the experience...

I'd love to go check out a show of theirs.

Now all I need to do is get some more songs. Hmmm...

This thread reminds of a thread that I wanted to put up some time ago. I probably got stumped with the subject line but it's about new wave bands with ONE or TWO commercial hit/s that you can hardly associate with the rest of their other songs.

Bands like Naked Eyes (Always Something There), China Crisis (Wishful Thinking) and General Public (Never You Done That, Tenderness) come to mind.

Well in my opinion, Naked Eyes is a very commercial sounding band so I don't see much difference between Promises, Promises and Always Something There To Remind Me which is anyway a cover.
China Crisis?... They do have a number of accessible songs so I guess Love Will Tear Us Apart, Joy Division would have been a better illustration for your intended topic.[:D]

I AGREE WITH YOU fanciz!![;)] This is a great CD though the 99.5RT classic "When The Lights Go Out" wasn't included on the original release THE BEST OF which I have. Good thing I have the "BURNING BRIDGES" VINYL. Great BAND!![;)] I also like CLIMIE FISCHER works.
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF LOVE 12" version" is my ultimate favorite. I can't be tired of listening to my VINYL of it. The beat is superb![:D] Yo fanciz! Maybe you have some original NEW WAVE CDs for sale that I might be interested.[;)]
