<br>You got it dar. I havent visited Farmers Plaza for the longest time now. But i heard it is still there.
It's still there, alright. But like most record stores here, they diversified into vcds, dvds, mp3 players and whatnot. And there are more salesladies than there are customers.

My 1st cassettes were :-

The Go-Betweens...Before Hollywood
The Church...Of Skins and Hearts

Didn't even get to listen to the 1st track of The Church. I had this crappy cassette deck that just chewed the start of the tape. [:(!]
So I pulled it apart cut the unusable section and glued it back together,it took me hours..but it worked.
Wasn't the same though, so I bought another copy and a new deck. [:)]

One of these days, DSR, empyrean, let's get together and take a tour of these record shops of our youth... maybe when Rubeet comes home for the holidays?

Funny thing....I was a vinyl guy and only one bought a cassette during this whole error (except, of course, to creat my own mixed tapes). It was earth, Moon, Sun by Love and Rockets. Why I bought this on cassette instead of vinyl, I'll never know

Either Prince - 1999 or The Clash - Combat Rock.

Not that either are exactly "New Wave".

Not that I can listen to them, anyway, since my cassette deck (circa 1989 Aiwa AD-F800) decided to stop playing tapes two weeks ago. [:(!][:(!]
(I opened up the unit-- too much to tinker with. The belts looked loose, though. Anyone out there know anything about this stuff?)

If the belt is already loose, then it's about time to change it. The belt is the common thing that breaks up in a wear and tear of tapedecks.[8D]Bring it to the nearest repair shop. As soon as the belt is replace then you are ready to use your tape deck again. That is, if the belt is the only problem.[;)]
