Human League

Postby latebar » Fri Oct 20, 2006 3:27 am

I recently got Human League Reproduction & Travelouge. OMG they are brilliant. This is the very first time i heard HL early cds.

My question to u guys is...is Human League better pre-Dare or post-Dare?

I like all periods, but probably prefer Dare and beyond.

I also love these CDs. You're right, they are brilliant! As a teen, I had Dare, which I loved....but it wasn't until recently that I listened to Reproduction and Travelogue. Gah, these are even better ! I love the stark synth sound; it's a great contrast with Phil Oakey's deep baritone. I think they're underrated NW gems. So--I prefer these earlier albums, although I also love Dare.

<p align="justify">I love all of it. From the times of The Future to the most recent stuff they've put out as The Human League. These kids really hit on something big from the first time I heard "Don't You Want Me?"[8D]

I prefer the original incarnation to the Dare and after period.

Latebar - you have to track down a disc called The Golden Age Of The Future. It's all demos and outtakes from the first 2 albums and earlier.

Also, if you haven't seen it yet you should check out blindyouth.co.uk It's a very well done site pertaining to the early Human League.

Dare and after for me, but I like just about all their work. Their recent stuff is pretty cool too. In my eyes they can do little wrong.

Great early stuff IMO. I have their best of compilation. Dont You Want Me and Lebanon stands out

I love every note of music they ever recorded, in every incarnation--in particular, I think Romantic? is an underappreciated album...

I like the early stuff, but I prefer the direction both parties took after the breakup (the Dare album, B.E.F. & early Heaven 17).

Personally, I don't compare both periods. Before "Dare!" they were a more experimental, research and original band. With "Dare!" and after, they became a perfect pop machine... What they still are.
