The Instructions

Postby DevoManiac101 » Wed Nov 22, 2006 4:39 am

Do any of you remember the band The Instructions? They released an album in 1982 on Radio records, very good stuff! I was wondering if this the Fleshtones under a pseudonym? On the back cover it says "The Fleshtones would like to express their gratitude to the many machines which made this project possible" It's a totally different sound, very synthy and spacey not like the Fleshtones sound we are all use to, and the album is distributed though Atlantic records. I just have always wondered about this and finally remembered to ask.

Thank you, any help is much appreciated [:)]

I can't find any Fleshtones connection, one Instructions member went on to be in Images In Vogue and Strange Advance (Ed Shaw- guitars)and the band also included Derrick Gyles on drums but those are the only two names I see anywhere. Nothing listed on any Fleshtones sites that I can find. Would be intrested in hearing it, Gemm has copies from $5-20 available.

Edit: Interesting side note- www.fleshtones.com is the Leading Lingerie Site on the Net![:I]

I have this lp from 1982,and its kinda trippy synth rock/pop with some atmospheric moments.I think they are Canadians and really surprises me the ''connection'' with Fleshtones.Too bad i can't find the album in my room's shelves to check it,yet!

Your post made me pull out my vinyl copy and you're right, it clearly says "the fleshtones would like to etc etc...."

I went through all the names on the Intsructions record and compared to names on Fleshtones records and find no connections.

I think that question is one for the ages. I doubt there's an abundance of information on a one-record group like the Instructions.

I just wonder if they had some kind of contribution to the record, thanks for checking!

I vaguely remember an early 80,s Canadian bar band called Stark Naked and the Fleshtones this could have been the beginings of the Instructions.Any other Canuks on this site remember them?I could be wrong.
